Mind Sessions Part 2

Since the other thread had quite a few replies, I figured I’d start a new one so these weren’t lost in the replies.

Here’s an early scribbling together of Thieves. This is obviously before it was fully flushed out at all.

And here’s the song, somewhat fully ordered, complete with a phoenetic spelling of “syphillitic”.

There are several sheets like this - a photocopy of Thieves lyris with additional notes made. Some of these changes stayed, some didn’t.

And here’s another. This one has the tracks numbered.

Those of you who’ve read Chris’ book (buy it now if you haven’t: http://tinyurl.com/2asw9c ) might remember the story about Faith Collapsing. Basically, the guys sat around trying to think of something that has as many syllables as the chanting in the song. They made lists of possible names until Faith Collapsing won out.

Well, here’s one of the lists:

Here’s another. I’m guessing this is the master version, as it’s pretty long and has not only the winner, but a couple other possible contenders that are starred.

front:

and back:

Not being musically inclined, I can only guess this lists some of the chord structure in Breathe.

Next: Unreleased songs

This is such cool stuff.

Out of those possible song titles for Faith Collapsing:

Hey Don’t Ask Rave
Take More Acid

are great.

they seemed to be lingering on the ‘slave’ thing…

Someone has some pretty nice handwriting in Thieves too…

this is excellent stuff, enjoying it more than i would expect from ‘some papers lying around’

-E

All the “possible titles” really give a glimpse to the sort of goofy ass personalities that were involved with the band at that time. Fun to see!

again, great stuff. strangely compelling. thanks for the xmas gifts, bisq.

The general shape of the letter stokes indicate an artistic and non-standard approach to life.

A small t bar indicates goals set lower than what can be accomplished.

A high t bar on the stem indicates goals set high.

Letter forms that are straight up and down indicate a logical nature.

Pages 3 and 4 are Ogre’s handwriting.

loving it!!!

This is some great stuff, and kinda reinforces my belief that Mind, while not one of my favorite Ministry albums, has to be one of, if not the, best, simply because it truly shows what a group of people can accomplish when they get together, forget the drama, make music, and have fun doing it!
Also… “Great Hibachi?” NICE.

(hu) ray for Austin?

I lived in Austin Tx at the time this was written… This lyric really speaks to me.

Freakin cool find Bisquit… Thanks for sharing!

page two again is al, for the forensic experts here.
you guys are probably right about ogre.

I think I’d like Faith Collapsing way more if it was called “Live for Hustlin’”.

I think I’d like Faith Collapsing way more if it was called “Live for Hustlin’”.

They should have had RevCo record the exact same song with that title.
