I was absolutely going to include Megadeth’s ‘Rust In Peace’ or ‘Countdown To Extinction’. Not kidding when I say that either.
looking at that list I absolutely believe you.
I don’t care much for Countdown to extinction. About all I can stomach from that album is Foreclosure of a dream. I think it sounds to slick and boring in the way the Black album sounds from Metallica
For some reason or other I was going to include Anthrax.
I was into Anthrax in High school But only attack of the killer B’s and I wore that album out, so it’s kinda hard to listen to it now 20 years later. I can take it in small doses, like Milk and chromatic death etc. but I don’t think I can do more than 3 songs from that album anymore in one sitting and if starting up a posse or bring the noise is one of those three, then the limit drops to 2 songs.
Marilyn Manson - I thought you only kinda half liked them.
well, “half like them” probably appropriately describes how I like them now. but like some easily lead automaton I continue to buy their garbage, kinda hopeful for a return to glory but it’s getting progressively worse. I pretty much agree with voidehead (was it ?) when he says Manson’s just out of idea and has become comfortable with his success which is inhibiting his lyrical content. There’s no shock, he has nothing new to offer. sad really. I thought Holywood was a considerably bland offering after coming off of the genius that was Mechanical animals.
Live was included as a joke.
Ew! you have a better sense of humor than that!
Put Toys In The Attic as no. 1 as you seemed to be the kind of person that…oh hell, it was just a shot in the dark.
had this been Jr High you probably would’ve been very close to correct. I was an Aerosmith groupie, I adored the Permanent Vacation album. now it floats in the same boat as anthrax
I was also going to include NIN’s ‘Pretty Hate Machine’.
Solid guess, as I’ve professed my love for Pretty Hate here, more than once, on the board. I think it would be in my top 20.
And some Slash’s Snakepit too.
You know, it’s Five O’clock somewhere would probably make the number one slot if I could find away to digitally remove the vocals from the album. As it is I can pretty much ignore the vocals, but it’s still more work than it should be to just hear some slash. I could listen to that guy noodle on a guitar forever. he never gets old to me!
Yr admission to liking Aenima has taken me by surprise.
Really? I’ve mentioned my like for Aenima before on the board. granted I’m not a fan boy, but I think that album is certainly solid! I find myself singing “PRYING OPEN MY THIRD EYE” and “Fuck smiley glad hands with hidden agendas…” quite often. I dig it and would be sad with out it.
What about Rollins Band / Black Flag?
I like both. I tend to like Rollins spoken word more than his band and I don’t care much for Black Flag With Henry. I like Dez and Keith Moriss (obviously!) better than Henry. Actually I think Mark of Cain does Rollins band better than Rollins. (Nod to toot for that recommend god rest his soul!)
Misfits?
Oh man I LOVE the misfits. I’ve got the entire collection, the coffin, the rare and elusive 12 hits from hell. I was actually gonna put 12 hits and opted to list Megadeth instead, just cause I can only hear so much Misfits before I start to get weird. I’m sure it’s Pavlovian as I used to listen to a lot of Misfits during some bleak lonely times after high school. But yeah the misfits fo sho!!
Faith No More?
Not really a fan. I don’t understand all of the love on the board for their lead singer here. I think Epic is really the only thing I like by them and really it’s the Piano at the end and Martin’s guitar solo that does it for me with that song.
