What’s that crazy speech Dan Akroyd gives to Farley in Tommy Boy about making room for the new businesses and how he rationalizes it with “sure the kids love the floppy old dog but there comes a time when you have to do all of us a favor and blow that dogs head off when it gets too old!” or something along those lines! perfect metaphor for Metallica!

From the black album forward their catalog could be considered a skull and crossbones wallet that you bought at hot topic.
From And justice… backward it’s a billfold that you lifted off of a rotting human carcus! which is more bad ass/authentic? I rest my case!

Was always under the impression that they never really got along. I remember one interview where Hetfield and the bassist at the time, Newstead (I think that’s his name?). One would say something along the lines of “we don’t need to do solo work, or collaborate on other albums”, while the bassist called him out on in for doing a song for the south park movie (when kenny goes to hell). Interesting bunch of “musicians” that band is…
And speaking of south park. Just watched the episode where all the bands against downloaded protested. The metallica stuff was hilarious.
Well also they got a fucking shitload of money. So basically they can afford to go do whatever the fuck they want in between shows. So one wants to hunt in germany and the other wants to shag his wife in london and the guitarist wants to see if he can get a spanish girl, etc. and basically they are financially capable of doing so. So god bless them and let them do it. As much as people complain about either post justice for all or post black album material, I just know all these people would go into seizures if the band were to call it a day.
There is a review of sorts floating around at the moment - some guy who claims to have heard the whole thing. Sounds like he’s not bullshitting either. You can usually tell when they are.
He says it’s generally so-so, with a few peaks and troughs. Apparently there are a few clunkers in the middle but then it picks up again at the end.
I’d rather have been there, or any show that down opens up, to see if Phil goes on any of his “rants”. I remember one where he basically called them all sell-out has beens during the load era I think…
