Kind of a weird lineup, no?
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Melvins, and Down is OK, but in a similar situation although I love SLAYER, most of their fans are fucking morons, and I would hate to put up with the Pantera crowd to see my beloved Melvins!
Ah, maybe it wouldn’t be so bad… most of these Pantera fans are old like me, maybe they’ve mellowed out and their douchebaggery has subsided… MAYBE.
Anyone heard Weedeater before?
I saw the Melvins live this year in a really teeny tiny venue.
Fucking killer. 2nd time I saw em. First time was at a 10,000 capacity arena.
The intimate venue was far more suited to em… Dale Crover is a ridiculously intense drummer. Their recordings don’t really do him justice once you’ve seen him play live.

Down is actually pretty damn good live. Nowhere near what a pantera show was like. And now that phi’s been sober and got that back surgery he’s worth seeing again

Yeah, Down is OK but the Melvins are going to be a really hard act to follow! I’m wondering if they will play their rock oriented material or risk pissing off the Pantera retards with their experimental stuff.

Rod Laver Arena… sound was great, surprisingly, for Tool… clarity, balls, YIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAUUUUUUURRRRHHHHH! It was just as loud for the Melvins, but their music was difficult to decipher amidst the acoustics of the room which turned it into something resembling a shitstorm. They were louder than Tool, and pretty much the loudest band I’d seen until sunn o))) [laugh]
Besides melvins DID do the second stage of ozzfest in 2000 I think… Wasn’t that the year slipknot was on the second stage? I remember talking to buzz after his set and he mentioned how he felt like an abortion.
I met Buzz back in '96 when the Melvins toured with Cosmic Psychos in tow. He was the nicest guy and signed my copy of Honky without hesitation. Then he drew a big X near the signature and said “Now it’s void…sorry”. I was totally fan-struck and had no audible reply for this, as I felt I was in the presence of greatness.
Now I look back on it I should have asked him if I could touch his hair for a few seconds.
Can’t for the life of me understand why they are touring with Down of all bands. Down suck harder than a busload of Marilyn Manson fans on their way to a midnight screening of Twilight.

Remember Melvins even toured with NIN… whom they described as being douchebags of the highest order.
Melvins may be the greatest band in the entire universe but they’ve made fuck all cash for the most part! The world is sooooooooooooo unjust!
Buzzo is a legend. He’s hilarious too. Any Melvins interview is pure gold. Check out my Melvins/Jesu Amoeba thread where you can watch the Melvins interview and set they did instore not that long ago…
I’ve got a great Melvins bootleg dvd somewhere where Buzzo really gets the crowd into a frenzy with his insane banter. He says to the crowd “is anyone here out on bail?”…the crowd screams and roars…Buzzo then says “our bass player Kevin is on bail for statutory rape”…the crowd starts to REALLY go apeshit at this comment…Buzzo THEN says “oh no no no…it’s not what you think…it was a boy!”…at this comment the crowd go completely INSANE and ROAR with opure fury as the Melvins rip into Honey Bucket or some other Melvins stormer! Hahahahahahaha!!! I thought that was absolute comedy gold. That show was in the DEEP south too by the way.
I love Down and the line-up totally makes sense, if you actually listen to Down and know the history of the band without writing them off as some pantera fodder bullshit, which they couldn’t be more different from.
Bummed they’re not coming here, but I do get a 2 set Melvins show and a Weedeater headlining show in the same weekend, so I can cope till next year. I’ve just been wanting to see Down for a while and always miss them.
