May 2nd Show -review

Got to the dinner met up with the PA at 5pm and met like 8 of them…a mix of younger & older fans. Eat and went to the show at 6pm. Stood in line with “the last sucker” and saw & said hi to Tommy Victor. We found out the VIP meet and greet would be after the show…which sucked (thank god it was Friday night). Got in around 7pm & I bumped into Tony the bass player. Bought a Stella (had a few) looked at the stuff they were selling and waited upstairs for the show to start. Hemlock came on at 8pm. They played like 6 songs and I have to say they weren’t that bad. They have been playing for 15 yrs the lead singer said & sounded tight. The singer kept talking & active with the audience. I’m not going to go out and buy their stuff but I would say they’re a loose sound between Sepultura & older Testament.

Pretty soon after 15minutes tops Meshuggah came on and about one minute into the set the guitarists’ amp blew a fuse (fire alarm went off). So after 5 minutes tops they started again. I wasn’t that impressed by them. The last 3 tunes I liked and probably played for 40 minutes.

Got another beer and bumped into Sin and told him he better get on stage. So we waited for Ministry (fence in place) and they came on 10ish. (With all of the reviews and comments my expectations were a little lower than the last tour.) They played I’m Not Gay with the stage lights on. I really digged the song; Technoish with AL on vocals. The most Revco sounding song I’ve heard still 1993. Then the intro to Let’s Go started. Al didn’t do much talking during the show. He did say STOP after like 3 songs. The energy was intense and the sound was mixed very well (samples were loud & all seemed to be used). Not much breaks between songs. I think this show blew away the last tour by far. Everyone sounded tight with no mistakes. So What seemed a bit shorter than the cd. Al played guitar for the rest of the show except Thieves. Then Burton came on and sang NWO. Wasn’t the best sang song but different nevertheless sounded good. Just One Fix was very good. Thieves Al sang & then they walked off stage. The next two were ok and again walked off stage. Under My Thumb began and the balloons were released. Show was over around 12:15am.

I went down stairs got some balloons and preceded to the VIP. I waited on line for about an hour. I was starting to get tired and the beer wasn’t helping. I finally got to the band & talked to Aaron about his drumming which was very good and said he wasn’t very happy with the drum set he was playing. Next was Sin and asked him when the next Revco was coming out. He said it’s done & around September with a tour to follow. I mentioned something to Tony and told Burton I liked his vocals on JOF & liked his version of the Gary’s cover of Cars. He was very nice and grateful to be signing with AL. Talked to John & told him I was glad he’s back in Ministry and that he was way better than Darrel, hehe. I also mentioned I’m enjoying Ascension of the Watchers and thanked both Burton & John for a great effort. I told Tommy I saw him open up for Ozzy in 1991 and waited for AL. Told AL I’ve wanted to meet him since 92 and he was like man long time huh. I said he sounded great tonight and he said we were okay. He was in a great mood and seemed very happy. I got him to sign some stuff (pics below) and got a picture with him. Angie was behind him and called her over to introduce myself as Revco & she very happy to see me. We talked for about 20 minutes. She’s really excited about the new RevCo cd. I got a pic with her too, grab my goody bag and basically left with AL & Angie. 2AM

Overall a great show and experience. It was awesome to meet the band and AL. Finally!!!

cool man. sounds like you had a big time. congrats on finally meeting al.

interesting, you’re mind CD is a digipack gatefold. mine is a standard plastic case. don’t think i’ve seen the digipack version.

i was looking at that too. i think its just the booklet and the way its folded. if you look at it as a digipack i think that’s the open where the disk would go.

no wait, it looks thick near the spine, could be a digi.

I think it’s just the standard insert, with a crease in the middle. I don’t ever remember seeing a digipak version in stores when it came out.

Excellent review, great pics!

One thing that’s bothering the hell out of me, though: why did Bell and Sin both sign albums (“Mind” and “BSQ”) they had NOTHING to do with?

It’s the standard insert…no digi thing.
