That’s right - Harper called for a Canadian election for October right? Why did he call it like that - unpopularity? I would vote for Bloc Quebecois

People say this (particularly democratic party) but the truth of the matter is Gore did not even win his home state of Tennessee in the 2000 elections and the Florida “loss”.
In fact:
A study in 2002 by the Progressive Review found no correlation between votes for Nader and votes for Gore (i.e. larger votes for Nader did not correlate to less votes for Gore and vice versa)
To me, since Gore received popular vote by over half a million and lost is not the fault of Nader. It is the fault of the electoral college.
When asked by MSNBC’s Tim Russert about the possibility of preventing a Democratic victory in 2008, Nader responded, “Not a chance. If the Democrats can’t landslide the Republicans this year, they ought to just wrap up, close down, and emerge in a different form.”
And that is just what I said on here a few days ago.
THe Supreme court lost it for Gore. THe Supreme Court made the ruling on the presidency. Which to this day still puzzles me! The supreme court is NOT to APPOINT the president and that is exactly what they did! Voting, literally, was Meaningless in 2000.
I think the reason people Say Nader lost it for Gore is because if those people would’ve voted for Gore the margin of Victory for Gore would’ve been bigger and harder to hide!
That Being said, if Gore would’ve sounded more like a Democrat rather than “Republican light” he would’ve probably been able to keep a few votes from going to Nader! It’s his own damn fault!

get rid of electronic voting. there is no secure way to make sure the votes get counted accurately, as far as i can tell–but you guys are the experts with computers and programming, so tell me i’m wrong.
(i need all the edumacation i can get before i DO completely lose it, toss the laptop, and start running for the exit.)
Electronic voting should only be considered, in my opinion, if it is not from a company and more importantly, the system is not proprietary. Should be an open system and fully tested by third party security companies. There will still have to be human intervention - computers still break down etc.
As long as a a printed receipt is generated with the vote, I don’t see the problem with electroinc voting. We need a Paper trail and that is the problem with some Electronic voting, no trail!

It’s the joy of having a more than two party system. Gotta love Minority governments. Basically the opposition parties were going to vote against the government in an upcoming bill, and take down the government regardless. So he knew it was coming.
As per wikipedia:

Sucks. So much $ wasted in these elections.

But a cool thing happened as well: On August 30, 2008, Independent MP Blair Wilson announced that he had joined the Green Party of Canada as its first Member of Parliament.
This means the Green Party is able to join the National Televised debates. Should make things interesting.
