i was just browsing facebook when i came across his profile, i started creeping some pictures and i saw something about a book he’s putting out…Welcome to the Music Business, You’re Fucked. anyone else heard of it?
I remember his guide to touring…
He had a “school” for a while called “Revolution3” or some such malarkey where kids could get real experience and an introduction to the music/recording business.
Basically he was charging kids about $2K-$5K a piece to be his interns. I don’t know how many knuckleheads actually fell for it but they were shelling out their (or their dad’s) money so they could go hang out at Martin’s warehouse and box up CD’s and fence pieces for shipping, sweep floors, and fix his studio equipment.
They pulled it all off the web not too long after . . . . I think he got sick of people like me leaving comments everywhere and busting his balls for such shenanigans.
What a wanker.
oh fuck him.

God, I remember that. I even saw some of the video pieces on Youtube about “hacking” your own musical equipment…basically, taking apart Xbox controllers and turning them into some sort of USB MIDI controllers or some shit.
Might as well say he charged them thousands not only to be janitors, but probably how to solder.
as i said previously. fuck hm. i know how to solder. i learned early on. in highschool. fuck him.
HAHAHAHA!!!
I wish they still had the promo videos for “Revolution3” up on YouTube. They were funny as heck.
Oh, and this is by no means to detract from the douchiness of the earlier mentioned shenanigans, but I took a peak at the Invisible website and was actually surprised at how reasonable or downright cheap the merchandise was (I guess you can offer some real bargains when your employees PAY YOU for the privilege of doing all your work for you).
They have 5 - 7 disc boxsets of Pigface and Chris Connelly and so forth for $25 for the entire sets. I’m kind of tempted to pick up the early 90’s Pigface box (a bunch of live concerts and so forth) or even the Connelly box just to get caught up with his works.
Anyway . . . I digress. Atkins is a douche.
Might as well - it’s not like the artists are getting paid anything. Purchase forward.

HAHAHA!!! I think you commented at the same time I was adding an extra line to my post. I totally agree.
The dude’s operating expenses are actually NEGATIVE (means he’s making money just for opening the doors . . . assuming the supply of idiot kids desperate for experience still come scratching around).
As much as I crap on him, I’m totally in awe of his creativity in exploitation.
I am in awe that a man of his caliber has been able to be a total businessman in every true sense of the word, for 20 years.
That’s all I can say.
Oh, and his drumming skills are good.

That is pure gold, Man. You can read it in like 12 different tones and there’s like 52 layers of sarcasm . . . maybe.

For all the crap any of us say. He can pretty much counter with . . . .
DUN! DUN! DUNDUN! DUN!!!
So epic.

i was actually blasting the crap out of this song (breath if im not mistaken… haha) today… so fucking good…
Yeah. The very beginning of the ICYDFLSU video. I actually stole the phrase as written from another friend of mine.
It’s so epic. All Ministry fans recognize it as soon as it’s written.
I was even thinking about making a T-shirt design based on it.
You would think as a man with such savvy could go beyond buying striped shirts, but who am I to judge fashion? I just got a professional haircut today, a first in maybe 5 years.

i would buy that shirt… as long as it was cheap. haha…
first pro-haircut in 5 years? man, just shave your head, you can do it with some water and a razor, been doin it for about 2 years now… never need to go anywhere for it. haha.

If I ever get around to it I’ll definitely post it here. And I wouldn’t do it to make money but just because it’s cool and funny. The only people that would ever buy one would be here or on PB4PB anyway.
I’ve not seen t-shirt bootleggers in gig parking lots for years . . . do they still exist even?

i dont go to big enough shows to warrant them i think…
i do a lot of silk screening, and i have a few friends who do their own as well. its really easy, just need access to a dark room to burn your screen, but otherwise… haha… its way easy.
I took a class for silkscreening when I was in High School. I still have my jacket that I screened the Lard lamprey on the back of. It’s a lot of fun - if I had a bigger place or was still a crusty bachelor I’d get some gear and be set up.
nice.

Yeah I know, I use electric clippers but I needed some layers.
