Who’s he planning to recruit? Him and Pogo and then what? Gidget Gein is dead. Sara Lee Lucas retired from music years ago. The other two or three ex-Spooky Kids were only in the band for very short periods of time.

Both are lost causes if you ask me…

Huh, double the terrible with Lady Gaga and Marilyn Hasbeen! Reformed Spooky Kids sounds promising on paper since Portrait era stuff is the best MM to me, but High End of Low sounded cool too and turned out mediocre.

High End Of Low follows the template that virtually every Manson release succumbs to - here’s the anti authority track, here’s the raise your fist and yell track, here’s the goth sounding ballad, here’s the Depeche Mode-ish electro track…

But the kids seem to love it, so…whatever.

well first week sales were 40,000 so not too many kids seem to be loving it anymore

I might as well weigh in here. I think the GaGa is Manson collab is interesting because she is quite stellar as an artist visually IMO with the costumes/makeup/etc. (see the Paparazzi video before you make fun of me please), but is downright awful musically–though at least she writes her own stuff and can play it.

nu Manson is similar where the visuals do more for me than the music many times. And clearly she views him as an influence so it’s cool they got together, but the resulting shitty remix really is no surprise.

He basically he sings four lines and does a croak here or there on a derivative shit remix of a derivative shit pop song. Would be more interesting if they collaborated and wrote a song together but even that is probably not best for his career if he wants to regain some fans. He needs to accept he is a rock artist. A song like “Tainted Love” might generate some temporary teeny boppers buying his album but those people are not going to support his career long term. Ditto with any fans gained through GaGa.

He really is in the midst of an identity crisis. I mean to hear his new album and then see he’s touring with Slayer it’s like what the fuck is the demographic for him now? Goth is mostly dead. Metal is pigeonholed. Guys like Reznor are appealing to eco-friendly indie rocker tech types and people in their 30s who grew up with him. Manson is sort of …all over the place as far as who likes him now after all the shape shifting.

Young Hot Topic kids liking the new angsty themes, a few metalheads still holding out for Antichrist part 2, maybe some hiphop or pop holdovers from “Tainted Love” and this new GaGa thing, a few who still cling to the Goth scene, a few normal people who just like him maybe…it’s really dwindling and I think he needs to pick a schtick and stick with it now to keep em coming. Not to mention up the anty tenfold on his live show to make it worth attending…

EDIT: As for the Spooky Kids reunion—I’ll give a huge whogivesafuck. Seriously. This is fucking pathetic if I’ve ever seen it. You want to make fun of Manson? His ex-bandmates are far more pathetic. Trying to cash in on shit that never even sold to begin with. Scott Putesky is just a karaoke cock sucker looking for a dime. If him and Pogo did something new it might be worthwhile, though doubtful. But this? Please.

And I’ve heard fucking Joey Belladonna from Anthrax has been…uhh tapped (in the ass) for this one as singer. For anyone who doesn’t know where he’s been he was stagnating in the Syracuse metal scene playing at hick bars last I heard. I even played the same bar as him with Nursing Home when I was there for school and my bassist jammed with him. lol talk about hasbeen…
