I don’t know anything about this chick.
I just wanted to say that Moby had a girl bass player in the '90s and she was awesome.
I really like female bass players.
They look awesome and fierce on stage. Sean Ysault, Melissa Auf Du Maur, Anna K. If she can play good I think it could look pretty rad.
Like I said, I got nothing bad to say about her playing (never heard it). I just feel like this is symptomatic of everything else that pisses me off about Ministry nowadays.
Umm…come to Brooklyn…I’ll show you “hipster”. No hipster be she.
Looks more like a “suicide girl” or nu metal princess.
Ahh Suicide Girls, speaking of ‘empowerment’ - a cultural phenomenon that never ceases to amuse me.
I know they’re supposed to be providing an ‘alternative’ to stereotypes of docile femininity or whatever, and getting us dudes to re-think our sexual boundaries etc. etc., but…“by their fruits ye shall know them,” as that Jesus guy once said. At the end of the day people largely use SG pictorials as material to furiously pound off to, not to help them engage in a serious dialogue about wimmins’ freedom to expand beyond traditional roles handed down by patriarchal society.
Considering everyone on this board is now a raging feminist (based on the Gira rape thread) I’m surprised you guys are judging her on her appearance! Shouldn’t you be rooting for this strong, empowered female!??
Seemed to me like almost everyone there was giving Gira the benefit of the doubt!
You could call me a feminist insofar as I agree with the bumper sticker sentiment: “feminism is the radical idea that women are human beings”
But when that sentiment gets upgraded to “feminism is the misguided notion that women are 100% innocent of any historical wrong-doing, ever,” that’s where I get off of that particular bus.

Bowie did for several tours as well.
Actually the two of them probably toured together, since Bowie and Moby were part of the same tour package once…I remember a lot of Bowie’s long-time fans were heaping scorn upon the bald little guy, e.g. “look at this sellout who licensed every single track from his album for a TV commercial,” etc…and the Starman had to personally intervene and stick up for him.

I didn’t know it was supposed to be this deep thing…I thought they were just gothic hos…
Congratulations you may be the sole person in history who actually bothered to read the Bio on their website!

Well that’s certainly a big crock of shit!
You’ve obviously never met a woman.
Trust me, they’re anything but human.

Hahaha I don’t think I’ve even visited the official SG website. I’m more into the early Ulrike Meinhof type, personally (i.e. intensity hidden beneath a facade of ‘properness’…and for what it’s worth she did legitimately commit suicide, according to official accounts of her death):
But anyway, the above was the line given to me by a former ‘empowered’ woman I dated, who was I think auditioning to become one of them. Sounds like she was genuinely convinced about providing a progressive social service.
Hope this goes better than the Tia Sprocket debacle of 2003.

What’s the story with that?

I don’t know the details but she was the drummer for the first few shows in 2003 before she was gone and they had to make a panicked call to Rey to help them out.
Oh, okay. I thought maybe there was some exciting psychodrama to share.r
I’m sure there’s a story because I remember the lead up to that tour they were hyping the idea of a female band member and then she was gone without further mention. There have been a few other people associated with the band for brief stints throughout the years that I would love to know more about. I haven’t read The Lost Gospels but maybe there’s something in there about some of it.
I don’t remember anything about Tia Sprocket being discussed in the book, but there was a lot that I either forgot or just glossed over, apparently. I suppose I’ll read it again some day. It’s pretty entertaining but I read it more in the tone of Beavis and Butthead making up stories and not as anything that even vaguely represents an historical document or retelling of “facts” or “information”.
I mean, I don’t think I’ve seen second hand corroboration on even one of his many outrageous anecdotes in the book.
I don’t recall anything about this either. In fact, I think this is the first I’ve heard about Tia.
I only remember her because of her name, and I think I always get her confused with Ty Coon. Which girl is the hard ass one in the promo shots from around the A.I. time?
Anyway, another forgettable Ministry footnote.
Was Tia also Al’s “girlfriend” at the time or am I getting that confused too?

Ty Coon is the one in AI that also did some vocals around that time.
I remember the other chick when the tour started, but know nothing else about her.

Did she perform at ANY live shows?
Or did she Monte her ass right out before the bus got out of the driveway?
She did the first 13 shows, according to http://www.prongs.org/ministry/tour-03
That link makes me sad… because of this:
Standard Setlist
Animosity
Unsung
Piss
Dead Guy
Filth Pig
Bad Blood
Psalm 69
Crumbs
Supermanic Soul
Reload
Hero
^ That’s the only tour I missed in the last 25 years.
