Malekko

I figured this project should get its own thread, since it’s Barker & Connelly (and two other people I’m not familiar with).
They’ve posted three songs on Bandcamp, but they’ve recorded at least three more because they gave Afra a CD and he posted about it on Facebook.

Yeah this has been posted before but there’s a new track up. Very cool.

Don’t think Prongers won’t get copies mailed to them - if you’re on fb, send me your address…Here, DM me. I’ll try to get them out…

This is why everyone loves Afra.

Yea, I’ve been seeing this on facebook too. I’m interested.

Not really what I was expecting from these two… but it’s not bad.

Sweet…

Listening to this. It’s an EP and the last track “The Whisper in me” is a really good tune. Great industrial stuff…yeah!

Got my copy as well. Really good so far. Thank you so much Afra!

Got mine today, too. [:)]
It got stuck in my wife’s care Stereo and wouldn’t play or eject. [:(]
So, I wasn’t able to listen to it.[:(]
Finally got it out with very minimal scratching to the edge of the CD. [:)]
Took it into my house to rip to MP3, but the computer wouldn’t recognize it. [:(]
Restarted the computer, and then it recognized it. [:)]
Ripped the CD to my computer, and put it on my iPod. [:)]
Now listening to it. [:)]
I like it. [:)]
Thank you again, Afra.
This was swell of you.

So what you are saying is your wife has a POS car stereo?

Well, as shitty as a stock 2012 toyota camry stereo can be. I think it’s more a problem with the disc because it plays every other cd she puts in there just fine.

Hmm, we also have a 2012 Camry. It is a pretty crappy stereo.[/reply]
LOL. I don’t know if we get anything special, stereo-wise, for having the hybrid, but it’s not the best stereo out there, but it certainly isn’t the worst stereo.

No problem, guys. It’s the least I can do for your patronage and loyalty over the years. grmpysmrf, I messaged you in case you wanted me to mail you out another CD. Anyone else, just DM me here.

When it does go on Bandcamp, please donate a few bucks, however.

Thanks guys

I have listened through this twice. I like it. I’m going to listen to it more. I haven’t listened to it enough to give it a full review - but I do dig it.

Thanks so much for sending this to me Afra, you are good people.

I figured this project should get its own thread, since it’s Barker & Connelly (and two other people I’m not familiar with).

Joshua Holley is a co-founder (with Paul Barker) of the Malekko Heavy Industry guitar pedal and modular synth company. Here’s recent interview with Paul about Malekko the company: http://tonereport.com/blogs/interviews/the-darkest-place-in-portland-malekko-heavy-industry

Peter Holström is the guitarist from The Dandy Warhols!

Josh is a good dude. had a few transactions with him. always pleasant and understanding.
anything with Chris is a hot item for me…

EP is decent. Didn’t change my life or anything, but I’m digging it. Good show in Chicago. Hope they tour it some more.

awesome thanks for the link to the article.

Thanks so much for this Afra!

I’m really digging this. It’s right up my alley. I’ve been listening to it a lot.

I’ve liked all of Paul’s post-ministry stuff (even USSA, though I could never really get into the singer’s voice); my main complaint is how infrequently it comes out. But I guess he’s pretty busy with his effects/synth company, which makes some very cool gear. He lives here in Portland and I see him at shows fairly regularly.

I really dig Connelly’s solo stuff as well. I know it isn’t everyone’s bag, but he has a new album out now (unlike Paul, he’s prolific): https://chrisconnelly.com/news/news/2017/10/where-to-buy-art-gender/
