When did Al turn into Dennis Hopper?
I don’t quite understand why one would have to make a video like this to send to promoters. I don’t understand the purpose of that.
I think this is an attempt to “go viral” (a poor attempt at the sort of hidden viral video thing… it’s “leaked” on a fan site… etc.).
I think the “we did our job no you do yours” is a street-team vibe… send the “piss army” out there. KMFDM have done similar things.

It’s pretty interesting how Al always talks up his albums… These webisodes remind me of the Last Sucker ones. There were going to be some “RevCo” ones too but they never came around. Interestingly enough the “5 year” contract on the Cocks is coming up.
it’s also quite interesting that with every new album, he proclaims it “best thing i ever recorded”, “best album i’ve ever made”, when in reality it’s a rehash of previous one and only like few people like it.

I don’t know why people think this is aimed at fans. It seems fairly obvious that this is aimed toward record label people, which is why it makes sense that it wouldn’t be public on their YouTube page.

Also, he keeps mentioning finishing by Christmas. Since the release date is March, the Christmas info is irrelevant to consumers. But it’s important to the people doing the marketing because that’s when they can crank up ad campaigns (or whatever creative ideas Al is begging them for).
The division in interpretation of the purpose or target of the video is what base it’s actually aiming at (if it can be called aiming at all). It’s clear that Al wants some marketing help with the album and it’s not just a teaser video for fans about looking forward to the new album, in the way the other webisodes have been.
However, I don’t think Al (as bad as he is) is directing this to professional marketing people. I know he’s basically lost most of his marbles but the album is already being produced through 13th planet, who I assume will have main control over it’s distribution. Also since when does a musician make a YT video directed at marketing professionals asking them in a pretty crude way to do all this work for him with an implicit suggestion that it is their duty to do it. If you’re going to contract professional work there is a protocol, a protocol Al would be familiar with during his 30 years in the business. Al is probably feeding off (1) the incessant ass-kissing he gets from nu-Ministry fans and thinks he can get them to do his dirty work and (2) the trends of promoting work online through free and popular tools (like social networks). It is not uncommon for some fans to want to and actually help out a band by organizing gigs or parties or other events for bands that are not huge, i.e. accessible.
Maybe that Uncle J guy will see this video and get on the case. That will have undoubtedly hilarious consequences.
