woah. so what’s your fucking problem?
make it easy on me, Al. Seriously.

I think it’s like a pre-emptive alibi.
Now if the album and tour flops he can blame us and the record companies for nor marketing it and selling it properly.
“I did my job, now you do yours!”
HAHAHAHA!!!
That video wasn’t intended for consumers, i.e. “us”.
That’s why it’s flagged as private on Youtube. Don’t know who (. is, but s/he’s apparently sharing insider information.
Didn’t realize it was a “private” video.
But it did seem like it was a message intended for the record companies/ distributors. Does seem like a pretty lame way to communicate, though.
How about having an old fashioned meeting or a conference call with the people who are in charge of this sort of thing? I don’t know. It just seems really juvenile and stupid.
Yeah the “you changed that around” guy is a classic sycophant. Hate those guys. Wonder where’s the wife in all of this? Behind the camera? Riding the dog? Poor dog, have felt sorry for none of those dimwits these past few years except for the labby.
HURRAH FOR THE CONFEDERACY!
…
That last link is dead, anyone have it?
The link works. I just watched it.
My GOD that was embarrassing! I mean this is truly classic shit! Like fucking EPIC !!
The video is “unlisted” as opposed to “private”. This means you can’t search for it on youtube but once you have the link you can see it (you don’t need a YT account to view it). A private video requires a YT account and the uploader has to permit you to view it.
It is highly unlikely that the vid was intended in an exclusive way for marketers/promoters. It’s just a weird, ill-advised, self-deluding “plea” from an idiot who thinks whatever he does is the shit. I’m all for inventive ways of helping artists get their stuff out but I must stress the word “artists”. All one sees here is a man running on less cylinders than required falling into the YT/Facebook/Twitter trap of putting up any crap that comes into his head and thinking it’s worth watching/reading/listening.
No, it’s definitely for marketers/promoters. There are a few moments where he says things that don’t make sense if directed towards normal consumers. I suppose it’s possible that it’s intended for street team people, if Ministry still has those.
fkkk that was weak!
If it was designated for a professional audience it makes it even worse. My guess is that there’s no money in the camp and they can’t afford pros to do any promotional work for them. So they turn to non-pros/amateurs for “help”.
It’s actually a nice idea (that promoting something can be done for next to nothing and without “suits” being overpaid for a basic job) but the asker has to merit respect and conviction to help them out. Helping out Al here is like just handing money to a homeless drug addict. There’s just so little hope of your charity being put to positive effect.
Left-Parethesis Period is our inside man.
“Hell, we even got the kitchen sink in this… damn record.”

It’s pathetic for sure - I just don’t think it’s quite as pathetic as asking random fans to promote his album for him (yet).
Like Zick said, asking the fanbase/street team isn’t pathetic and sad . . . . so long as you’ve already shown yourself to be an artist that appreciates the fanbase and shows expresses that appreciation.
Heck, I’ve run around town plastering up flyers for Rigor Mortis, blasting emails, calling places and people . . . just because I’m a fan. But they have never crapped on me, have always shown great appreciation, and would never charge me $500 to get a little closer to the stage and a CHANCE to meet the band.
Ministry/Al . . . . I feel dirty enough buying the album and/or a ticket for the show. I don’t know a whole lot of fans that feel they need to “give back” at this point and we’re certainly not going to accept that challenge when there’s a pretty good chance we’ll all be scapegoated at the end for the reason things didn’t do so well.
It was actually the only promo video that I didn’t FFWD through parts of. I was entranced by it. It was like watching a man die. I’m horrified and yet I can’t turn away. Part of me feels like Al went to the Charlie Sheen school of re-invention and is just putting this all on as some big play . . . but I guess that’s the part of me that is still in denial that this is really happening. Oh, my gosh, this is all really happening, isn’t it? AAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!
oy vey…
Hmm
I think the issue is that he was reading from a script. He keeps looking down and at one point flips a piece of paper over.
I think this is aimed at fans (I think Gunner’s mention of street teams is correct), but it’s obviously aimed at the “knucklehead” fans of buttrock.
None of his descriptions of the album itself make it sound appealing to me. And that “Double Down” song that plays in the beginning sounds like Rio Grande Blood re-mixed and with different lyrics (and it’s certainly not drawing me in).
I agree with Gunnar that the approach is pretty common (if clumsily done), but I also agree with his assertion that the music itself has to be worth listening to… and that’s really the bottom line (as it ends up being in most of the discussions here) … and honestly, the best thing about this board over the last few years has been the non-ministry music I’ve been turned on to through discussions here. This new Ministry stuff is just boring at the end of the day.
I don’t know why people think this is aimed at fans. It seems fairly obvious that this is aimed toward record label people, which is why it makes sense that it wouldn’t be public on their YouTube page.
He keeps talking about how “they’ve done their job” now it’s time for the viewer (the record label people) to “do their job and figure out how to market it properly”.
My guess is that this was a video made for Cleopatra Records? Isn’t that the label that has released the latest Ministry catastrophes?
Why would this vid be for rec execs? Isn’t 13th planet putting it out?
2nd, if he showed up to a suit meeting the way he appeared in this video, security would be called. A record company ain’t doin shit for that piss drunk cock!
I think this vids for the fans, so they feel special. like they are in on some kinda cool hip secret by viewing something hidden.
I just can’t believe this is the same dude, it seems as though he’s had a complete personality over haul. Take any interview from the last 20 years and put it up against this train wreck of a man…
Wtf?! Is he trying to kill himself? Is he a pulling a nick cage from leaving los vegas?
Late,
grmpysmrf
maybe it’s a big epic troll haha. probably not of course. though would be kinda cool. somehow it reminded me when tool’s 10k days album leaked and people started a hoax that it was a fake album!!
sounds like Rio Grande Blood re-mixed
he’s been rehashing HOTM since 2004 and apparently, is still doing that. even the b-sides (“cuz u r next”, and whatever side project shit was out sice) is basically same old same old, which as you all know, wasn’t really the case of pre-barkerless ministry.
