I know I don’t post here a lot, and I hate to use this space for shameless self-promotion, but my first album reviews in 10+ years are up at www.looklistenplay.com. You clearly have a way with words but your reviews lack balls. The Japandroids review is like something the band’s PR dept. would come up with and in the other reviews, you spend way too much time establishing where you think the band’s music should fit in the grand scheme of things.
I noticed you also rate on a scale of 10. My advice is to stop doing that since it is the words and the review that should convey what you think about the album, not a scale. As a reviewer, it is not your job to write a band’s biography or manufacture a philosophy for the band’s music, it is to have an opinion and to express it in an appealing way.
