LOOKIT WHAT I DONE GOT FOR XXXMASSS

My friend is amazing and got me this for festivus. Still had catalogs in some!

I wish it was like a movie where I would be feeling emo one day and fill out an order form and mail it in but by he magic of jeebus they would be delivered!

That’s awesome! I wish I had some 242 on vinyl!

HAHA!!! Divine was WAX 002.

Since WAX 001 wasn’t shown in the catalog I was curious to know what it was . . .

Never heard of it. But if anyone else is curious, it’s this . . . .

Gunnar, IIRC, that was a band called Strike Under, who legend has it were a bunch of kids that used to hang out in the wax trax store, loitering and shoplifting, until one day they forked over a demo tape and Jim and Dannie decided to put out their record for shits and grins. That’s where that whole subplot in the movie High Fidelity was directly lifted from. Or so I was told at some point. Ask Gerda, lol.

Also, that Divine record has a pretty good story about how they got sued over his/her version of The Name Game. Went to the Supreme Court or something. Dismissed when it was revealed they only sold like 20 copies.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! I didn’t know either of those stories, but, yes, I think the “artist” name was in fact STRIKE UNDER.

Here is a little fun fact:

The record store scenes in Pretty In Pink could very well be Wax Trax Records. (They are thanked in the closing credits).

With that being said, I’ll make no further comments because I’ve already embarrassed myself enough

Actually Hughes was a big WT fan. But they couldn’t arrange a shooting at Wax, so they actually created a mock WT in a sound studio.

THAT’S AWESOME!!

I wonder if that’s Gerda shooting staples at Duckie.

Nice 242 score, BTW.

I was gonna ask that but you clarified… I was thinking I’ve heard this story before…

One of the Strike Under songs is on the Black Box.
It’s obnoxious.

Haha! I’ll look for it on YouTube later.
