Listener Fatigue

Anyone else getting a serious case of this lately? Love my records but I’m so burnt out I couldnt listen to a single note of music without feeling nauseous.

I think its a symptom of 21st century connectivity. Streaming, media players, smartphones. You can take your music with you anywhere you go 24/7.

No

God damn this at least 20 characters shit is so fucking annoying and such a shitty fault in what is an other wise cool new(relatively)website…

No, if anything I’m listening to more music than before; I play my records on the stereo/mp3 player at work, stream from spotify on the bluetooth radio while I’m cooking/cleaning the kitchen, then when the kids go to bed, I’m at the computer with my headset checking out obscure stuff on youtube or similar.

No.
I’m overwhelmed by musical choice.
I get musical ADD now where I have a hard time not switching to another song right away.

Also porn ADD…

Oh you’re definitely gonna hit that wall soon with that much oversaturation

I’ve never felt overwhelmed. I know I got all the time in the world to discover music I’m very patient. Recently got into Cuban Jazz and I’m taking my sweet ass time delving into it

HAHA I know this all too well. The last day it’s been Ozzy’s “I Just Want You” on repeat.

Don’t feel ya On the porn though… I haven’t watched porn in about 4 years. Something just switched in me after my daughter was born, So no hardcore, I’m still known to look at internet tits, and women flashing gifs, though

I don’t have any of these experiences…I still listen to full albums like I always have…great time to discover stuff I’ve never listened to but always wanted to or to re-visit stuff I haven’t heard in a while…

Listening to and playing more music. Exercising more. Eating less. Drinking less.

For me, the key to not hitting the wall is variation. I’ve experienced listener fatigue a few times earlier, but at those points in time i basically “binged” on specific genres of music at a time. Like, I was really into death metal for a couple of years in the early '00s, then I just got sick of it. Had a similar phase with “progressive” rock/metal too. Now I’ve got so much different stuff lying around, it seems there’s always something I want to hear. Occasionally, I want to enjoy hearing nothing too, of course
