'Leper' likeness

Anyone else feel Ministry’s ‘Leper’ is a lot like Melvins ‘Pearl Bomb’ form their ‘Houdini’ album. Very alike methinks

Well, there is some similarity I guess but its not as obvious as “Filth Pig” having the exact same riff as “Night Goat”…

hm…I definitly hear what your saying mick. Pearl Bomb’s a good track, as is Leper so it’s cool [:)]

and yep, Filth Pig IS night goat. but it’s all good. props to the melvins for being awesome.

yeah and leper bass reminds heavily of cannibal song. same notes, actually…

hmm yes i agree there are a few similiarities between ministry and melvins guitars

melvins touring with jello very soon!!!

hmmm, the more people talk about these guys (Melvins) the more i become interested. what’s the jello stuff with them like. if i was to snag a few MP3s to see if i liked um - which ones should i get?

just grabbed two tracks from alternative tenticals…
Jello Biafra & The Melvins · Never Breathe What You Can’t See
virus300 (2004)
01: “Plethysmograph” by Jello Biafra & The Melvins (4:49) - MP3 (4.4 MB)
03: “Yuppie Cadillac” by Jello Biafra & The Melvins (4:31) - MP3 (4.1 MB)

this shit rocks. i’ve heard a buzz about this latest album - how is it? of is there another one i should get?

go out and get melvins houdini, bullhead, and stoner witch. you won’t be disappointed!

And Ozma, Lysol, The Maggot, not to forget their highly interesting collaboration with Lustmord called ‘Pigs Of The Roman Empire’ released last year…

Houdini is my fave, but Stoner Witch, Stag and the Lustmord collab are all pretty good too.

Yeah, Houdini is pretty darn sweet, if I may be so bold. But it’s not the best…try out Bullhead or Eggnog or Lysol. All CLASSIC Melvins!!!

Stoner Witch is pretty ordinary. Avoid that one.

I agree. Nothing big there - Bullhead and Houdini are up there for me.

Fuck yeah, a Leper thread AND Melvins thread! lol. Houdini is a bitching album indeed, as is Lustmord collaboration album, Safety Third is quite a stupendous track. My only wish is to have heard Leper with its lyrics, but then again, maybe I dont. Paul Barker and Melvins should work on something together, thatd be pretty sweet. Paul Barker needs to make music of some sorts, PAUL WHERE ARE YOU MAN!? Anywhoo, download Safety Third, Brain Center At The Whipples, Night Goat, and Hooch, and your ears and brain will thank you.

Insight! The Melvins need a bassist, Paul is a bassist! Though it’s just a pipe dream. Paul wants more time with the family. One could dream though.

Don’t fall for Colossus of Destiny. D’oh!

Jelvins is cool, can’t wait to hear the new disc. Mel+Lustmord is good. As for the rest, I need more. Well, need to play more of what I have. Have like Bullhead, The Maggot, The Crybaby, The Bootlicker and Electrotard.

Don’t fall for Colossus of Destiny. D’oh!

I bought that album because of its cool cover (the duck). At first it really annoyed me that the album is just one hour of noise but then as I got more into the likes of Earth and Sunn O))), I began really appreciating that album. Its not bad at all!

Did I ever tell you about one of my dream tours?

Cop Shoot Cop
Foetus
The Melvins
Ministry

Not to get off subject, but somewhere in the 90s these bands I think all complemented each other well. Melvins and Cop Shot Cop especially, something about the two of them made them some of the rawest bands to listen to. May have been the singing.
