to be honest, like many players who donate their time and money to places, they tend to be douches when the cameras aren’t on them. I only say this because I’ve seen it first hand as you probably know.
I’ll never forget what an asshole he was once, Lebron. It was about a half hour before the game started, there was a little fan who had on his jersey, held a sign, had the face paint. She must have been 6 years old tops. Apparently she was from make-a-wish or something, and Lebron was supposed to sign something for her. That’s it. So she’s standing there cheering him, asking for him to sign, he looks over at her, shrugs, and puts his headphones on!! The girl cried hysterically, Lebron ignored her, and then Dwayne Wade ran over and signed for her.
anyway, that’s all I thought about after Lebron’s latest charity thing.
LeBron is known down here as a good guy…I’ve worked a couple of functions he has been at and he comes off as humble and down to earth…he donates a lot of time and money to various charities and doesn’t look for praise…he is a good dude…

Oh stop…he obviously didn’t see the kid or something…don’t base shit off one incident…anyone who knows anything about the guy knows that isn’t indicitive of how he is…

That may be the case, but seeing as how Souldriver Works basically for the NBA and sees these dudes on a regular basis, he either knows what he’s talking about or is jaded. gotta a solid 50/50 for knowing what he’s talking about.

Whatever…I work in the audio/video field down here in Miami where Lebron lives and works and does loads of charity work…in this industry word of mouth about people’s characters spread like wildfire…I’ve worked functions he has attended and I know many people who work with him constantly and I’ve only heard good things…I’ll go by my experiences and the people I trust down here…
The problem with being a public figure is the same problem with deciding to go on a reality show. You’re under a microscope 24/7 and that makes it possible to paint you with any color of the rainbow.
Just think of your own life and actions throughout the week. Are there times where you could be seen as heroic, a-holish, shy, stubborn, angry, patient, loving? Of course. We’re human and we have a range of emotions and depending on what day or time you catch us we could be anywhere on the spectrum. Add to that dumb mistakes, human error, or things delegated to others and you’ve got an even higher range.
Also, now with the internet, cell phones, etc., it only takes about 10 seconds to broadcast crap to the entire world. So, a well-meaning sports star or movie actor could wake up the next morning after treating his staff and friends to a big expensive night out and find that everyone is calling him cheap and disrespectful to waiters/ waitresses, because he screwed them all on a tip — when it may have been something as simple as an assistant taking the card to the cashier and forgetting to fill in the tip line.
I’m not saying all this to defend Lebron. I don’t know the guy and everyone’s story is different, but, in general, if a dude seems like a decent guy and is actively trying to make a positive impact on others he’s probably alright. There’s also a bunch of pricks that do “positive” stuff solely for the camera’s eye, though. Don’t even get me started on what a piece of crap Schwarzenegger is, haha!
Anyway, if you think Lebron is awesome, don’t let one randome internet story sway ya, Grumps. Cheers.
