Well I think if they don’t like it they should learn to sell it at a competitive price (or reprint it if it’s gone out of print like LIG)

There was some stink about it in the '90s. Garth Brooks wanted to make it illegal.

Lead Into Gold is way out of print, of course. I don’t know who has the rights to it, but if it’s Paul Barker he should just sell digital versions of all the Lead Into Gold stuff via online retailers. It’s simple to do, and it seems like it would be an easy couple of bucks for him.

Yes I am not sure if this was part of the TVT Wax Trax buy out, but it seemed that the Luxa/Pan stuff wasn’t part of the deal. Front 242 neither as they had moved on to Epic.

Afra you should run the idea past Paul about the digital route, although I have the Lead Into Gold stuff already, it could only help him get some more exposure. How about that Low and Slow EP we’ve heard about for years? A quick digital release of that would be nice if Paul has access to the music.

i wonder why paul did not continue with the l.i.g. name since he’s solo again i mean, that fix movieb track sounds like something left from age of reason. It just seems to me that l.i.g. was atleast known and had a discog. with that name

p.s. it’s all about snake oil

I wonder how record companies feel about 2nd hand music sales since they don’t get a single dime of the money that exchanges hands.

God, i remember working in a used cd store about 3 miles from Tower Records. They would bring in TONS of promos. Seemed(s) like the majors had so much money
they didn’t care. Plus, the artist/band never got paid anyways.

Are promos as common now as they used to be? The most recent promo I have is Tool’s Vicarious single. Are they still distributed via CD or is there some fancy online distribution (for radio stations anyway, presume stores just get cut outs when they get their shipment)

I remember hassling some of my local music stores for promos years ago when I could be bothered, but they never really had any, a few years before that a friend did it constantly and got heaps of cut-outs for free.

LIG wasn’t ever pressed by TVT, but it’s just about the only Luxa/Pan project that wasn’t.

Finally getting to hear Low And Slow would rock my world.

I really wish Paul Barker would listen to his fans and re-issue his entire LIG output, including the LOW AND SLOW EP. It’s been too long. Doesn’t he read this board?

I am Low and Slow

I have a feeling he has an idea what goes on here… but, how many people would buy LIG records today? Doing a re-release so that 20 people will buy it is a bit of a waste of time, don’t you think?

One could argue he did this with Flowering Blight, No? Speaking of which, I need to throw that dark heavy record on again!

some companies still give out promos… some like alfa matrix, have a site and load the songs on there and give people and individual code and password to get to the music

I’d be under the impression that if Paul wanted to/could release LIG digitially he would have done so already. Though FB was not the best marketed album, I think it’s down to the man himself and whether he’s interested or not.

Sorry, should have dated myself in my post - this was early 90’s. Amazing to think that 5 years after that a store bought cd was almost a thing of the past…

I snagged both “Age of Reason” and “Chicks & Speed: Futurism” from Amazon for twenty bucks apiece in damned good condition. Best purchase ever.

I hear that, I bought the Idiot 12" single back around 1989 without having a clue who was actually on it. The plastic sleeve it was in just had ‘Ministry Guys’ written on it in marker. That is still one of my favorite Wax Trax singles.

“Ministry Guys” [laugh]

I’m thinking of busting out Chicks & Speed right now. Haven’t listened to it in a while.

Paul doesn’t seem too savvy in terms of knowing how to market himself…

without making new music? wait a minute! what about ussa, flowering blight? not to mention production on some obscure bands…

It’s pretty simple.

Paul makes music on his terms. If he releases it, he releases it.

It’s analogous to taking a hearty shit.

Paul puts a lot of effort into squeezing his shit out, and generally does a good job. But, he doesn’t seem to see the need to make money out of it. He just is happy to get it out of him and take it in, and if anyone comes across it, they too can enjoy it.

Scat porno stars, on the other hand…

Asked a girl what she wanted to be
She said Paul Barker, can’t you see
I wanna be famous, a star of the screen
But you can do something in between

Paul Barker you can drive my car
Yes I’m gonna be a star
Paul Barker you can drive my car
And maybe I’ll love you

I told that girl that my prospects were good
She said Paul Barker, it’s understood
Working for peanuts is all very fine
But I can show you a better time

Paul Barker you can drive my car
Yes I’m gonna be a star
Paul Barker you can drive my car
And maybe I’ll love you

Beep beep’m beep beep yeah

Paul Barker you can drive my car
Yes I’m gonna be a star
Paul Barker you can drive my car
And maybe I’ll love you

I told that girl I can start right away
When she said listen Paul Barker I got something to say
I got no car and it’s breaking my heart
But I’ve found a driver and that’s a start

Paul Barker you can drive my car
Yes I’m gonna be a star
Paul Barker you can drive my car
And maybe I’ll love you

Beep beep’m beep beep yeah
Beep beep’m beep beep yeah
Beep beep’m beep beep yeah
