I was wondering how you all feel about laser shows (like at a planetarium) and lasers that might be part of a concert or at a disco. The reason I ask is because I am involved in writing some laser show software. The people I deal with are mainly people who do it for a hobby so I know they think it is cool. But, I am interested to hear what the average person who is not involved with lasers things. If you think they are stupid you won’t hurt my feelings by saying so. So, please be honest. Just trying to get a feel for reality.
depends on the mood/setting i guess. when i saw skinny puppy in november they had this crazy ass trippy lazer show. it was appropriate considering most people were on drugs and skinny puppy has some trippy music.
I was just talking to a guy who does lights for shows and asked him about lasers. He said it’s basically dead and no one does it anymore.
I was sad to hear that, actually. I always thought they looked super cool and made for a great atmosphere. The Metallica show, by the way, DID have lasers though. It was awesome, of course. They also had pyro.
Lasers and pyro are super badass and anyone that does not like one or the other is stupid.
The extinction of the laser show seems kind of ironic to me, also, since lasers are so readily available now and dirt cheap (even for strong ones). Why not utilize them in conjunction with the latest programming and other technologies to make it even better. But I guess with all the HD and Jumbotrons or whatever, people are too lazy and apathetic.
Not me, Dude! I LOVE lasers. You got my support, Gary.
Lasers. Meh…
Saw the laser light show for pink floyd in san diego about 13 years ago. It was ok only in that I liked the pink fkoyd album, but if I had to pay cash to go listen to “money” with a laser cash register and coins on the wall with a bunch of others… pass

Thanks. I wasn’t even thinking of that, but it makes total sense. Plus you might accidentally laser everyone into a million pieces or vaporize them with a death ray if there was an unintended power surge or something.
I had friends that used to go to the Zeppelin laser shows or the Pink Floyd laser shows, but that always sounded pretty lame to me. The way these jackasses talked about getting stoned and staring at lasers while listening to Pink Floyd (I’m not a fan anyway) just sounded like Hell to me.
Lasers rule.
I’m ok with laser shows as long as the people running them are experienced/know what they are doing.
Indeed, class 3b and/or 4 lasers will burn retinas and skin, amongst other materials.
This video is not associated with lasers; however, it is associated with vaporizing humans:
