Here’s another one uploaded and posted here on the actual 30th Anniversary of the recording.

From the March 12, 1982 Misfits-Chicago show.

Care to tell more about this one? This is badass!!

I knew there was a reason I continue to lurk here. Thanks! This is going on the iPod.

Sounds like Al on the droning bass synth, JD playing the strings part, me on the squiggly appegiated stuff and Stevo demostrating some very animated drum techniques.

Probably only played out less than a dozen times, I’m guessing. Just one of those not-fully formed exercises that we’d try out every once in a while and either it would develop into something or it wouldn’t.

I read the title first but couldn’t remember it. After hearing about 15 seconds it all came back to me. It’s all Stevo.

If you replaced the high keyboard parts with guitar it could almost be a modern Ministry song.

nice…thank you!

It’s all Stevo.

It’s gotta be at least partly Al. That synth line replicates what The Carmichichaels were doing with their song of the same name.

Merely meant that the driving force behind this particular recording is Stevo. I’ve never heard any Carmichaels’ recording and it would be interesting to compare these two songs. There were at least a few songs, or at least pieces of songs, that I’m sure were recycled from previous projects. I’m pretty sure that Overkill had it’s origins in Special Affect. The piano part in Revenge was very similar to a part in a song that I’d written prior to joining the band.

But really, what I was trying to highlight here, was that it’s roughly the 30th Anniversary of this recording.

Saw this on the Wax Trax group. I’d love to understand what Al’s saying. I like the more fast paced stuff you guys did back then (What Is The Reason, Never Asked For Nothing).

Cool. Kind of reminds me of old Wall of Voodoo.

Didn’t Wall Of Voodoo do Mexican Radio? Not really a fan of that song and I also remember they were on the Weird Science soundtrack. If Knowledge is what they’re older stuff sounds like I’m interested.

Wall Of Voodoo didn’t always do songs like Mexican Radio, in fact they kind of succumbed to the old one-hit wonder label. They are worth a listen, imo, one of the better than average 80s bands that came out at the time.

Wall of Voodoo is one of those bands that was a victim of their biggest hit. “Mexican Radio” was obviously their biggest (and arguably their only) hit and makes it onto just about every 80’s Comps and “One Hit Wonder” specials.

But they were a really creative and talented group. Here’s some of their earlier stuff from the era I was reminiscing on through the Ministry track. . .

Thanks again, Wempathy!

Now after listening to Dancing Alone it makes me wonder just how much Arista was involved with the wrting process of With Sympathy. Honestly if the second half of the album had these two, What Is The Reason Never Asked For Nothing and maybe Love Change instead of most of the trax we got (save for Here We Go) then it would’ve been a perfect album.

Cool Bob…thank you!

^ nailed it.

Knowledge is superb. It’s too bad these will never see a proper release… kinda like the Back And Forth Skinny Puppy series. So many unheard of gems from those days.

Thank you, sir!

ah, WS is ok as it is.

2nd album with similar but more ‘darker’ songs would be neat to have though… seeing now how there actually were enough songs for it (i mean more and more appearing just when i thought almost everything was unearthed)

shit, gotta dig out some 1982 bootlegs and listen to them now

PS. as always, great uploads and thanks for sharing the stuff!
