In november I’m gona go se KMFDM live in Stockhom - Sweden…
Never seen them live before, I like the music… but.
Are they any good live?
I’m asking coz I’m thinking of bringing a friend with me and this friend is not realy into “that kind of music”… And I don’t want to bring him to se a crappy live band that plays music that he is not realy into.
I’ve seen every tour since 94. I’m sorry to stay but things have gotton worse over the years. The cool thing is the live drums though. It’s Pig’s band (minus Pig) with Sascha & Lucia…they recently got married. I’m a fan of the new releases & the energy is still there. You should a good time. Your friend might be a little bored. Enjoy!
they played two shows here in russia - in moscow and in st. petersburg, and i went to that st. petersburg one. it sucked, they were very loud (too loud) and it was a bit of a mess. sound was bad, and moscow one wasn’t even a bit better too.
from what i saw in the earlier video perfomances, they were much much much better before.
Sascha is about as exciting as watching paint dry. Lucia is a bit better though. The real frontmen to watch in KMFDM were En Esch and Raymond Watts. With those guys gone, KMFDM isn’t all that exciting live anymore IMO.
However, if this is your first time seeing them, I have no doubt you’ll enjoy it anyway. I’ve seen them 5 or 6 times already.
I’ve seen KMFDM the last two times they came through Boston. If Raymond Watts is with them, then you are going to have a REAL good time. “This isn’t a fuckin’ Tea Party!” The dude is just fun to watch. But keep in mind the bulk of the material will be from ULTRA onward.
KMFDM w/o Watts is a little bit different though. They play more of the older material (Go to Hell, More and Faster, A Drug Against War) but its still a good time. But I dunno if I would take someone to a KMFDM show if they aren’t really into this kind of music. Maybe NIN would be a good starting point and then work your way towards Skinny Puppy with KMFDM being somewhere in the middle.
But whatever, they are a good live band and sound VERY good from what I have heard. They don’t sound as good as Ministry did on the Animositisomina tour, but they’ll give your ears a good ringing. Enjoy.
The tour for &@%$* was great. They still had Watts, Esch, Schulz and Skold, plus Ogre was there as a guest. All they were missing was a female backup singer. Saw them again a few years ago - wasn’t so great.
dude tim’s long gone…he’s with manson now…been like 2 yrs
Ugh…sorry meant Raymond when I entered the post, but lack of caffeine did me in. But then again Pig’s taking a bit of time off as well, I’m not sure if he’s been involved in the new album at all.
And correct me if I’m wrong but I thought that on last year’s tour Raymond was on the non North American dates. If I’m wrong, then whoopsy.

[shocked] I call myself a fan, and yet I didn’t know this. Oh the shame.
The last tour KMFDM did in North America/Canada did not include Watts. Apparently he was in rehab, or so I have heard. Another rumor was he was putting on the finishing touches on a new PIG album that was supposed to be released by KMFDM’s label but that never came to fruition. I am VERY curious to find out if he participated on the new CD though. I think he’s a killer piece to their live show.
