KMFDM is back Part II -Blitz

Prepare for full blown chaos - KMFDM Records proudly announces Blitz, the new album for their 25th year. Blitz contains 11 new sonic blasts from the Kapt’n and Krew and will be available on KMFDM Records/Metropolis Records on March 24th, 2009. More information will be available soon.

What, did Sascha piss off Brute, as well? That had better not be the cover.

Actually yeah Sascha did piss off Brute due to his reworking without permission the artwork for the last album cover. Now we get art that looks like it’s from an Apop knock-off, great way to celebrate the 25th annie.

If you’re interested, here’s the link where Brute talks about Sascha’s “remixing” of the artwork:

Fair enough but given how much Brute’s art contributes to the overall branding of KMFDM they’d work to keep him happy with the final results. A 25th anniversary album without Brute artwork is a little embarrassing. His art and Sascha are the two consistent threads throughout the 25 years (except for the Kickin’ Ass single).

Relax, that’s not the cover. See Kapt’n K’s response in this UHB thread. http://www.theultraheavybeat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2728

no worries, BRUTE! artwork it is.

fucking busy is right. sleep when you’re dead…

There’s gigantic differences between Sascha and Al. Sascha has an ego, makes sure everyone knows he runs the show, and does what he wants.

Al, on the other hand, finds any band member he could get his hands on, musically contributes very little to none, burnt many bridges, and hasn’t done anything remotely original in years.

Sascha can burn bridges with his ego, but at the end of the day he still is a very talented musician/producer. I think he’s gotten lazy, but he’s done far more than Al in the last decade alone and then some. I can put on nu-kmfdm and easily outweigh nu-ministry without ANY competition whatsoever.

al “contributes” his 51% for the publishing, lately.
(and lordpike’s got a point about who’s still got the talent).

Cool, happy that the Brute rift wasn’t a long-term thing.

Personally I’ll take NuMinistry over NuKMFDM but I don’t share the almost universal loathing for the past few Ministry albums nor do I like KMFDM enough to sample any of the material past BLEEP (or Symbols if you prefer that name). I’ll sample tracks from iTunes but haven’t been impressed enough to click “buy”. Does anyone have a couple of tracks from the past few KMFDM albums (from ATTAK forward) that they’d suggest as the real stand-outs?

Good, good, good.

Yes, indeed.

And NIHIL.
Since we’re discussing it, I prefer NuMinistry to NuKMFDM any day. At least Al didn’t make his wife the lead singer.

I’d rather blow my head off, but if i had to make a decision between nu-kmfdm and nu-ministry i would pick ministry.[:(]

I actually like Lucia’s contributions to the last few KMFDM albums… In fact, I think they are the best things about those albums, with the Sasha songs being pretty standard and derivative KMFDM-metal.

But thats just me.

lucia was in the band before they started dating and got married.

Was it ever really specified on when they “got together”? She joined up with mdfmk, but it could’ve easily just started there. Personally, I kinda wish sascha would just do away with em’ all and go back to the old revolving door, but that ain’t happening. The lucia tracks are usually what I skip over, and the guitars are weak. The last album was good, but doesn’t come close to attak by any means. Hopefully since Skold’s back in the picture, things will get a little more interesting, rather than the tired and repetitive band that was once amazing.

I know sascha’s just being lazy, because every now and then he’ll throw out an absolute gem (the title track off the last album), which always happens when the “band” plays a more minimal role. I always look forward to the newer releases though.

Lucia’s singing is a mixed bag, she is one of the best female screamers i’ve heard. She really can get angry and let it out, but she seems to be holding back alot on some of the songs. At least she can hit a note without having to use auto tune. Didn’t she open for the bee-gee’s on her solo album tour?
