anyone here into what we in sweden sometimes call Kängpunk (boot punk) hard punk… somewhat like
beat the bastards with the exploited…
not the greenday shit?
I’m asking because… well…
somehow my band-boss, i call him that because he is old… and he makes all the music, made a tune that was in that spirit… kängpunk.
That is kind of a turn when compared to older songs we made that is more … chemlab-skinny puppy-nin-ohgr-plp’ish.
anyway, I went home with the tune in my head and started to think about hooligans that fight in the name of different kinds of sports-teams… and the lyrics just came.
The song turned out great… not 100% ready yet, but soon.
So… if we would to make a CD with songs… and one of them where a hardcore-punk song… amongst other more electronic sound tunes… it just doesnt seem… right…
kind of the song die in a crash… on the last ministry…
I know some fans will go “what the hell is this shit”
(yes, the band has fans… since long before i started to sing for them… him).
But on the other hand… many bands does diferent kind of music… in their own way so to say… butthole surfers spring to mind…
and then KMFDM comes to mind to… “nothings new, it’s the same old shit, if it works this good why fuck with it”
If band X starts to explore new sounds…
Fanbase y will go “what is this shit, you don’t sound like X anymore”
If band X remain in the same sound
Fanbase Z will go " what the hell, you’ve alredy made a record that sounds like this"
Make the music that you’re interested in making. If it’s quality stuff, then the fans will go with you. Don’t try to anticipate what your audience wants to hear.
I’d like to hear that song when it’s finished, sounds interesting. I like the idea of fusing electronic and aggressive music, whether it’s punk, post-punk, whatever. Will the hardcore song have any electronics in it?
It’s just… well… a while ago we made a song that turned out verry pop’ish in a way.
And some replies where in the line of “hey, were are all the machines and the anger” hehe.
The songs just become what they become =) I don’t think he decides beforehand what kind of song to do.
tenotwo: Last time I heard the song it was verry little electronic in it. He was gona play around abit with it before we put it out for the public.
I told him that it needed some “metallic cloncs and some bam! bam!” before it is finished hehe.
I don’t think it will turn ot as electronic as the rickys hand cover we made. Will be more guitarr driven I belive.
well… I have no idea where the punk song has gone…
last time I visited the big-dude the song was about 90% done.
Well to defend him, he is quite buzy working in a group that are setting up shows based on the work of Harry Martinsson… lots of music and stuff.
I do have a almost-complete-song to spare thou.
I don’t know how to classify it… electronic-spokenword-rock ?!?
I put the song up for some single-contract-competition thing.
Some mastering and fixing the last part of the song and it would be complete…
(The big dude wanted to make the song more dynamic by throwing in a fast part in the end, on top of song sung to slow music hehe, I don’t like the fast part)
here goes.
