I had started a thread about the first EP I released but I’ve got a lot more on its way so I thought it was time for a full-on thread focused on the project rather than individual releases.
The first EP was pretty rough, but got me back I to making music. I’m going to take it down in a week, so last chance to grab it here: http://kabayoga.bandcamp.com/album/sir-bani-yas-island it was mostly recorded while hanging out by a pool at a really nice Middle Eastern resort. The sunny vibe and lack of practice probably made it a bit lazy, which is why I don’t want it up much longer. The new stuff is much better.
I’ve got an ambient album that will be out in about a week and a full length idm sort of thing out in April or May.
I liked the vibe with this thing, Green. It’s pulls off a decent ambient effect, certainly a better production than one might interpret from your own description of it. When the new stuff is up, give us a link
Doesn’t look like I’m going to get the ambient album out this week, as mastering it is a bitch (I’m not exactly a master at mastering). So, I thought I’d release a nice little edit/remix of one of the tracks. Very straight up ambient in the Brian Eno tradition of things. Hope you enjoy and obviously feedback is much appreciated.
I’ve been going back and forth between this and stupid YouTube stuff all night, and damn damn DAMN. This is really good.
I really like this quieter aspect of your music a lot a lot a LOT.
The last Eddie Entropy EP was like a wound that I wasn’t even aware of until it was festering and killing me (in the best way, and even THAT metaphor is kinda false, because I spun it over and over for, what, two months???). The first Ka-ba Yoga EP was like getting out of the ER with a new lease on life and a better understanding of my limits?
THIS track is right in that in-between state, between ravage and recovery. It actually feels a lot like when I was on Percocet and was kind of numb and couldn’t tell my dreams from reality. That’s a shitty place to be when you HAVE to be there all the time, but to revisit that place every once in a while is like sparking up a J or taking a drag of your best galpal’s cigarette. It’s just enough to be like “Yeah, I remember THIS,” and then you’re good to go.
Jeez. That make sense? 'Cuz it’s perplexing the hell outta me.
Wow, thank you very much for the feedback Ice! I never know how my music’s going to hit people so it’s great to hear about it. The last Eddie album/ep was really influenced by Sri Lanka and the almost palatable sense of blood in the earth there. This ambient Ka-ba is definitely all India and the metaphors you use ring true to my experience there. A little pure bliss heaven there and a little strange “I can’t believe I’m really seeing THIS? What the fuck!” too.
Thanks again for your thoughts! I hope you enjoy the album. I’ll be working on mastering for it later tonight.
