I assume you work M-F during regular business hours.
Make it happen, open your own small venue and book live acts from 8 pm to midnight several nights per week and on weekends.
Not compatible with my 10pm bedtime.[/reply]
Easy enough. Manager/bartender for after your bedtime until you can turn enough of a profit and quit your day job.
Pfffttt!!! They don’t need no van! Justin and the boys got themselves a first class luxury jet, I tell ya! They’re gonna be cruisin’ in style and snortin’ coke off the butts of supermodels.
If there’s still tour dates “TBA,” (and if the venue’s new location is anything like the one I used to work across from), [url http://www.neodanceclub.com/]NEO in Chicago might be a successful tour date for you.

I always thought NEO was a dance club, not a live venue.

The punishment tour stop was at Subterranean.
I think there was a limited number of gigs there when they were still on Clark Street…of the type where all that was needed was electronics running through the P.A. Or maybe that is just another of the false memories implanted in me by the Agency.
Nevertheless there are other options in Chicago, if not necessarily proper “clubs”. The “Enemy” space was another that I remember putting on things of an industrial bent, if maybe skewing more towards the old school industrial / power electronics / psycho-acoustics end of things.
These are weekend one-offs which together are being stitched into a tour. The California date we’ll fly in there, do the show, and leave. Trying to give our Cali fans some L<3VE because we were really embraced over on the West Coast.
You should definitely try to do Bar Sinister in Hollywood this time. It’s the height of goth culture here. Those people are into it.
I was there on my last tour, and honestly I feel the scene there is more about status and image than the music. I saw William Control perform there on the tour (we opening bands were not allowed to play because they insist on picking their own opening acts for any tour that comes through…another sign of hierarchical bullshit) and he was largely ignored by the crowd, the music was low, etc. It was awful compared to anywhere else where the kids were more focused on the performance and it wasn’t some trendy nightclub setup…
I don’t know that it’s worth performing there…either way I’m not yet on that level to be able to headline there. I tried putting out feelers but haven’t heard back. I’m still hunting another CA gig but there are big things on the horizon just after Halloween as well…
More updates soon! Thanks for the Chicago suggestions guys I’ll try and route something there around he OH date.
Ah, ok. I don’t really pay attention to that kind of politics. I just know they put on bands like yours, and every time I’m there the people seem to be into it.
Your next best bet would be Complex in Glendale. Fairly new, but they are focusing on industrial/goth/metal type stuff. It’s smaller, but they are putting on bands like Cocksure, Severed Heads and 3Teeth. cEvin Key always has his Japanese noise bands play there.

I have been to Neo on Clark, and I could see that scenario. It was not really big enough for a full band that has a theatrical stage performance, but I could see one or two people playing music as long as they didn’t move too much. I’m not sure what the new Wicker Park location is like space-wise for a live performance.
I’ve also been to Bottom Lounge (ColdWavesI), The Vic (Ministry), Chicago Theater (Nick Cave), HoB (Ministry), and Metro (Retrospectacle and ColdWavesIII).
So, did you quit yer Vice gig? Theyre letting you take more time off to tour? You must have gotten a ton of cash on your auctions and kickstarter campaigns to start another tour so quickly. Nice going. Perhaps gunnar and i will need to go to chain reaction again. I think we should show up in matching walkers
