Just Bought Rantology

It’s pretty good. I like the New intro to “No W”. I am a little miffed that the Live Version of “THE FALL” sounds like the exact same recording from “Sphinctour” but with a different sound edit. “THE GREAT SATAN” sounds a little different from what I’m used to with Ministry, although I’ve only listened to it a few times. It sounds very brash and muddled to me. I also noticed AFRA got another shout out in the “thanks” section. I like the CD it’s worth the buy if only to get A hard copy of “BLOOD LINES”

The reason it (The Fall) sounds the same as Sphinctour is because it is the exact same track. I thought they could at least release some altenate takes from the tour, but it’s the same shit. I think the whole point of Rantology is to shine some light on Sanctuary records, almost like a sampler. This is why you get one track each from Animositisomina and Houses with no mixing or anythng done, and three tracks from Sphinctour. As for the rest of it, it’s decent (I like the new Unsung, and Bad Blood is finally listenable), but overall not a great release. I guess it’ll tide us over until April. Although if Great Satan is supposed to be a hint at the new album as has been said, they can freakin’ keep it.

I think you may be on to something with the sampler, Plus you get the little history update for the johnny-come-latelys (as it was put). But you figure there are other songs that shine better than some of those picked. yeah “THE GREAT SATAN” really wasn’t a stellar track it didn’t really do anything for me. actually I was unimpressed, thinking if I wasn’t a Ministry fan that song wouldn’t make me buy the album. I hope Al does’t George Lucas out on us and start exploiting the fan base.

All ready to buy it and then I looked at the 18.99 price tag. I was at Virgin, but everything else I grabbed was pretty cheap. Sieg Howdy is sweet and it was only 11.99.

I think Rantology would be perfect for iTunes, but it isn’t up. They also took Houses off iTunes. Sanctuary is weird.

No buy for now. Is there anything in the liner notes worth having the hard copy?

Best Buy has it for $14.99. if you’ve been here for 6 mos. you probably already know everything in the liner notes. Like I said earlier “BLOODLINES” is probably worth the purchase. Although someone mentioned about 6-7 months ago that it could be argued that Al ripped off his own Song “SO WHAT” to make BLOODLINES". But I like “SO WHAT” So It’s not a big deal for me.

Picked it up for $10.99 at my local independent shop. It’s a fun release to put on as an alternative to Greatest Fits I suppose. Great Satan reminds me of a water-down version of Deity or the Missing mixed with Thieves. It’s a mindlessly fun track though.

18.99 haha.

All the Ministry stuff in the record stores I’ve been to recently (every single fucking one in the city) has been selling for €25.99. That’s $31.25. Fucking rip-off…

Yeah, I’ll keep looking, prolly Best Buy. Bloodlines is great, I got last year on iTunes though. Well worth the dollar.

31.25, yikes. F that. Do you live in Japan?

Funny how you can find release you consider more obscure for cheap, and mainstream stuff always jacked up. Was $18.99 at the indie shop I checked. Skipped it, and grabbed it at Best Buy. Still a bit high, but I’ll do it so Al can do one more tour at least.

Write off the live stuff. Sphinctour.
All the original mixes too.
Some of the remixes were interesting, and some of course are just the original song with minute changes. Bad Blood and Unsung revamps are both good. N.W.O. intro was a real hack job, but funny. The rest of it has some new interesting changes in it. Stigmata revamp is okay. Of course, always still perfer the original version to this one.

The Great Satan. Uncle Al’s done re-inventing the wheel. He’s just having fun now. Track has elements of days gone by. The intro drums sound a lot like Deity. The breakdowns with guitar solos show Al is just going back to the guitar again, and away from experimenting with other sounds. Parts of it reminded me of Hero or No W. Song is obviously some kind of pit song. They play that live, people will be going ape. Then again, maybe they’ll just go what the fuck? Heh.

Bloodlines. Is this an even shorter edit? Never sure how long the original was. Thought I heard 8 minutes, then the version I got from lorm was 7:11 time wise and this version is 6:34. Interesting.

Album is obviously just a compilation/greatest hits for fun, but what the hell. Could be worse, could be better. At least it’s not Greatest Fits II with a very similar tracklisting.

I do like the “kill kill kill” bit in Great Satan, though. More of that!

Count me in as someone who doesn’t like “The Great Satan”. This is coming from someone who actually likes Animositisomina and HOTM, and holds them in higher regard than Psalm 69, TMIATTTT, and LORAH.

The problem with the song is that it doesn’t have any hooks in it. Someone compared it to NO W, but at least that song has hooks. This song just sounds like mindless noise, I can’t understand any of the lyrics, and there doesn’t seem to be any motivating factor to listening to it. I love speed metal, but this song is just pointless.

You NEED help methinks, sonny.

I just heard ‘Bloodlines’ and it sounds like a troubled re hash of ‘So What’. I cant see why people who are praising it. The only song on ‘Rantolory’ thats worth anything is the ‘Bad Blood’ remix

Just got the album, Great Satan is great. Nice to throw in a burner every now and then.

What?!? Alright Animositisomina was one of their best, but HOTM?!? Above LORAH Psalm and Mind?!?
I would think that anyone who holds HOTM as one of Ministry’s best should love “The Great Satan”

Ju crazy man!
