Just looked at the paper - that Dingo Coyote or whatever her name is grabbed the Oscar for writing this thing. If you havent seen it - don’t bother! I got dragged to this waste of two hours by some bookstore chicks I work with last month. Blech!
I just don’t get the hype. The whole thing just glorifies teen pregnancy and sex and immorality…and it’s definitely not for kids. There are no redeeming qualities to it; there’s just a loose teen girl who speaks in this qausi - ping - pong - ish slang, speaks w/o thinking + lots of off color remarks / profanity. Fact is : kids of teen + single parents due tend to grow up with problems and are more likely to get into drugs and commit suicide. Not surprising this film has been praised…it’s in tune with the mass immoral culture from which it’s born.
The film’s ultimate message?
“Everything will work out even if you are a preganant teen.” That’s rarely the case. Don’t believe me? Pay a visit to the PA some time. It’s enough to make you despair…
Just sleep around kids! Nuthin’ bad will happen!
Trust me.
Jesus - I would’ve given a writing award to the Transformers had it been nominated over this claptrap.
Dingo Coyote is a far superior name for that girl. There was no way anyone else could have won best screenplay with all the media hype of “small town stripper makes it big in Holywood”. Blech. The Academy Awards is total bollocks, still i was sad to hear Viggo didn’t win for Eastern Promises. He deserved to.
i also thought Juno was trash and really couldn’t understand why everyone loves it so much. Overall i thought the academy got things right this year (unlike the past 2). No Country was very good, and after watching There Will be Blood last night i can say that Daniel Day deserved the oscar (and that no Country was a better overall movie). But i would like to see George Clooney win someday. He was great in Michael Clayton. I’m glad Atonement didn’t win anything as well. It had potential but the second half of the movie really let me down. Also i recommend seeing the best foreign movie winner “the Counterfeiters”. I don’t know exactly how much of it was true but it was very interesting.
Oh, and I haven’t seen Juno but I did used to live across the parking lot from Diablo Cody. I never talked to her but I knew who she was and we’d often ride the same bus to work. For that reason alone I’m happy she won. Also Juno’s got a lot of Arrested Development people in it so it can’t be that bad.

Supposedly they are “in talks” for an arrested development movie. it, along with curb your enthusiasm, are by far my favorite comedy tv shows over the past decade so i’m keeping my fingers crossed.
As far as I know the idea of an AD movie is very far from actually being realized. There does seem to be great interest in it though, both from the show’s creators and the public.
As for Curb, Larry is going to play the lead role in the next Woody Allen film. Cant wait for that, I wonder how much neurosis one can fit in a film, lol.
i’m sure it will take them a good while to get things straight but i’m glad to hear they are at least getting things rolling. Will Arnett talked about it briefly on conan last night and i’ve heard a few other actors from the show talking more and more about it recently so sounds like it will happen someday at least.
haha… well in this case he is VERY correct… that movie was like watching a chick get her period… emotional, whiney, and full of estrogen-soaked-i just wanna be loved-bullshit.
worthless… go see no country and there will be blood instead…

Jizzy,
I can’t speak for their mothers, but I challenge you to name one PA who was under the age of 18 when she gave birth.
and
Did you know that the more partners you have, the better your odds of catching a gift that keeps on giving? Thus, you better stop swapping fluids with all these hot women with perfectly manicured fingernails you keep raving about and settle on just one before you catch something you can’t get rid of so easily, if at all.
Your odds are about one in four, or are you willing to keep gambling?
Now back to the movie.
There are teen moms who do have lives that work out in the end. Their lives work out through effort, determination, perseverance, ambition, and the desire for something more for their offspring and themselves.
Way I interpreted the movie, was “make the best out of a shitty situation”. Which I think they captured pretty well, but the overall vibe of the characters and so on could’ve used a little work. If I had to rank it from 1 to 10, i’d give it a 7.

From what i’ve seen (damn this is gonna’ sound sexist piggish) they find some poor ugly bastard that they never would’ve looked at in high school to accept them and their baggage. Easy deal sealer if she is still a looker cause the ugly guy is desperate fo’ sho’ and thinks “w/ child” is a small price to pay for a trophy. and for her, ugly is a small price to pay for some security for her offspring. I’m sure it’s gotta suck raising the quarterback’s child after he fucked your wife for status in highscool back in the day.
Late,

Meh. Those tramps are close enough in age to merit the description. Quit mincing words, big momma. Jester, Sami and that other skag - who’s name I don’t recall all fell for the same dreamy, obnoxious, alpha male, strutting banty rooster “rock star” types who fucked them and had their puppies.
I’ll never get saddled with that lame shit, man. I’m always on the lamb, escaping from one maniac female to another. Oudda one near frying pan and into the other.
I was 21 when I had my daughter, I had 2 jobs, I have never been on welfare, I had been with her Father for 4 years. He was then and remains my best friend, and is a loving and kind Father to his daughter.
True he is the Alpha-Male rock star type, it was pretty much the stress of his touring and being away for long periods of time that split us up. Though I’m sure that seeing as you think you know the ins and outs of my ass that you will also know that my Father is a musician and that being an ‘Alpha-Male Rockstar type’ is less exciting to me than someone being a scientist.
I dunno where you get off calling me or Mrs Jester a skank (Mrs Jester was very sadly widowed last year losing both her husband and 6 year old daughter in a horrific car crash). She’s a friend of mine, NOT a skank, I’m sure when you look into personal reasons behind why some people are single mothers you will find that some of us do not have kids as some way of keeping ‘men’ especially you Jizzy, it seems you have an over-inflated sense of what a catch you are [shocked], that egotistical statement from you just confirms this for me. The most attractive quality I find in a man is humility…I spelt it right Jizzy, you will find it’s meaning in any dictionary. While you are there, look up fuckass too, it’s in ‘F’ under your picture

Looking for attention are we?

<rolls eyes> Oh…here we go. Blow that trumpet a little harder, honey - I think some people down the back didn’t hear.
