Jourgensen interview

Had not seen this, thanks for posting.

First off I can’t stand Navarro; he’s a decent guitarist but he’s a total shithead. Poser douchbag.

Did not know about this ā€˜Fixed’ documentary; by the sounds of it it seems to concentrate on Al’s drug intake moreso than the band but I don’t know. Anyone know more about it? Also what the fuck is Navarro doing on a Ministry documentary, that to me seems like ā€œlets get a big name on itā€ and nothing else.

At the end when Navarro asks them if they wanted to plug any websites it would have been great if someone just said ā€œOh yeah, prongs.orgā€.

Also Al, for the record, 10 years ago Paul and Linda McCartney were not doing a tour with all these ridiculous demands, Linda died in April '98.

Dude, was that interview sponsored by Marlboro or what? At least Al doesn’t appear to be drunk. Looks like he’s sipping Diet Coke.

Can’t find anything on the documentary (I can’t tell if it’s called ā€œFixā€ or ā€œFixedā€). Weird, too, that he doesn’t mention RevCo at all.

Navarro is a chode. Al is the biggest disappointment ever. He thinks it’s so fucking cool to talk about how drugged out he was. He’s obsessed with talking about himself, how relevant he used to be, and how cool he is (was). He annoys me to no extent these days. It’s depressing that my favorite band of all time turned out to be the lawsuit, bush trilogy, joke of a band they ended on. In a perfect world, Al & Paul would still be together, Ministry would be finished, and now would be the era of the second wave of many, many experimental side project releases that would melt our faces off.

It’s hilarious to think that he actually believes that enough people out there actually CARE about him and his ā€˜notoriety’ anymore…(outside of the PissArmy that is).

ā€œFuck, dude I did so many drugsā€¦ā€

ā€œFuck, dude I hung out with Timothy Learyā€¦ā€

ā€œFuck, dude I hate Bush so muchā€¦ā€

ā€œFuck dude, I make the most BADASS music everā€¦ā€

ā€œFuck, dude could you lend me a twenty, I’m kinda broke and my lawsuit against my former bandmate has fallen through so I can’t squeeze any money outta thatā€¦ā€

Loser.

Even Korn would wince at his antics these days.

Looks more like wine.

As for that documentary, it’s been in the works for probably like six years. From what I recall, Kirk Hammett, Navarro, Pamela de Barres, some other people were in it…not sure if it’s about drug use per se, probably the closest thing to a Ministry documentary that would probably be released. Although, at this point it might just be a big bust…

Also: title is called ā€œFixā€.

Damn, Dave Navarro, is pretty! he’s like a fuckin’ porcelain doll or some shit!! This has got to be one of the most superficial interviews I think I have ever seen. Horrid!
Late,
grmpysmrf

What bothers me is that Navarro seems more interested in talking about his stories and puts less focus on the guests…
Pops a question to Al and then of course interupts with one of his own stories related to the issue, know what i mean? Amateur…

Navarro is a weenee. I’m just a computer programmer and I consider myself to be cooler than him.

You are.

You may be a programmer but at least you never made a cameo appearance on an episode of ā€˜Charmed’.

At one point it was definitely bottled water.
There were a few jump cuts in the video, so he may have been drinking several different things at different times.

And what’s the story with the dude on the other couch? He didn’t say or do anything.

He talks about caricature frankly he looks like a wanna-be Ozzy. sigh

Honestly guys, I don’t know where all this extreme Al hatred is developed. As I don’t know how all of this Al ass kissing is developed over at the PA. It’s one thing to hate a guys music, but to constantly make fun of a guy based off of appearance, whether his hair is real or not, dentures, etc. is a little bit childish. What is being said between the constant ass kissing or hatred with the PA and Prongs reminds me a lot of people bitching about Paris Hilton and Lindsey Lohan. I know a lot of you guys are pissed off at Al lying and talking shit about Paul, and so am I… But to make fun of every little thing is just like beating a dead horse. I’m a fan of all Ministry, honestly and I hate the fact that Paul left. But let’s be honest… Who didn’t see this eventually coming?

Al has always had this look since about 89, if Al looked this way and Barker was still with him I doubt I’d see all of these remarks.

It’s really about the music, and Ministry really doesn’t have any image.

I don’t know, I just thought I’d share… You can correct me now…

When I first watched this video it seemed like Navarro as many pointed out was more interested in talking about his drug experiences than what was going on with Al. Al is a very intelligent person, and can have a great conversation when asked good questions, a lot of it I think has to do with who is interviewing him. On the other hand (other than speaking out for kids to vote) it does seem that for the past ten years or longer he’s dumbed down his public persona for the benefit of metal posturing.

Frankly I think the ā€œAl bashingā€ is deserved, or rather to be expected. There are a number of reasons for people to dislike Al over the past few years. These are obvious so Im not going to go into them again but I’ll say the worst for me is the idiocy of the post Barker era and the lawsuit and bad will towards the man that helped make Ministry what it is.

When you combine all the factors that lead to holding Al in a poor light then simple unimportant things like his appearance will come into play, either as a way of venting dissatisfaction with him or just to take the piss out of him. I don’t think anyone who had ragged on Al’s appearance or the dreads and all that is too caught up over it. The disappointment with him just manifests itself in different ways.

Any slagging of Al has been pretty tame anyway, in my opinion. No one consistently and vociferously rants on about how they hate him. No one hates him, just some of us can’t really stand him anymore, and for good reasons.

I still think Al was a very important person in music from the 80s to '03 and the great stuff he has done cannot be denied. But just because someone has done great things in the past doesn’t mean you have to support him forever. That might seem harsh but loyalty is only a good thing if its applied to a good cause. So if Al goes off and makes a few stupid albums and disses on Paul and all this crap then fuck him as far as Im concerned.

Also its only recently that those of us who don’t know Al personally have got an insight into what he was like during Ministry’s heyday through guys who know or have known him conversing here on this forum. Thanks guys.

Before I came here I just had this impression that Al was a cool, witty sonofabitch (particularly during my ā€˜Im looking for an idol’ early teens). But when you get insight into what he’s like or he patently shows the crap he is capable of doing ('04 onwards) its an eye opener.

Anyway Im ranting a bit so I’ll piss off now.

In closing: ā€œAl bashingā€ is a justified means of venting frustration with him over the past few years. He hasn’t been threatened or anything so its all pretty innocuous.

Promoting The Last Sucker tour as something that it definitely wasn’t was enough for me.

I’ll second that.

Yep, I was a pretty big Al apologist up to the point where he mis-represented the setlist. Now, I think some of the jokes are pretty funny. I’m surprised no one’s mentioned dude’s teeth…

I’ll assume that post was a shot at me laughing at Al’s appearance. Too bad, he looks friggin’ stupid man. Learn to grow old gracefully. Can’t he afford someone to tell him ā€˜y’know the dreads thing was cool but i think it’s over now’ ?

Robert Smith - the Cure and Shane Embury from Napalm Death need that same wake-up call.

I just find it funny. :stuck_out_tongue:

I just read this the other day. Pretty amusing:

The setlist is what did it for me as well, i could handle the crappy thrash metal but the farewell tour? i had to throw in the towel (no LORAH songs WTF!).

someone shouldn’t be talking about people being fatter than they used to be…

edit: he said he’s doing more film scores. does this mean throwing random 13th planet record bands and an off ministry remix on an album again?
