Josh Freese joins NIN

Josh Freese has joined Nine Inch Nails, replacing Jerome Dillon. Dillon seems to have some heart condition problems, which is keeping him to play on the nin tour.

Freese also recorded drums on Barker’s album, which is still being worked on. Hopefully we’ll see that album soon.

yeah…he’s been floating around the camp for a week or so. Sounds like a good drummer…looking forward to the show in Nov.

cool deal about the Barker info. I wonder if Paul introduced Josh to Trent?

Doubtful. Freese worked on the aborted Tapeworm project. He came to the NIN camp by way of A Perfect Circle.

Paul did introduce (and recommend) Lohner to Reznor…Don’t know about Freese. Probably not. Freese, as well as Perfect Circle, has worked on Avril Lavigne , Chris Cornell, Good Charlotte, Suicidal Tendencies etc…So you can find a lot of connections from Ministry to other acts thru him.

(his resume is very impressive)

“Consistently rated as one of the “top two” drummers in the world by the American press, many consider Josh Freese to be the best drummer in the world.”

Do Paul and Trent have any kind of friendship? I thought Trent and Al were closer than Trent and Paul, but now Al disowns Trent and claims he is a “pussy” because he is actually still evolving and doing good music instead of making heavy metal for disaffected mall rat teenagers.

thanks for the info afra!

and yep, Paul and Trent are still cool with each other. If memory serves correct, Trent was over Paul’s house on this recent tour.

Al has been saying puzzlingly negative stuff about Trent for a long time. At least since Filth Pig. I rather suspect it’s professional jealousy - Trent went from being an Al Jourgenson protege in jeans shorts and a buzz cut to replacing Al as the public face of “industrial” music.
To Trent’s credit, I’ve never heard him say anything but good things about Ministry.
