JKB News

For those who are interested JKB has released a new FINAL “picture” album called AFAR today. It’s available solely for a digital download from Avalanche Records. You can grab it at Avalanche Records. There are still copies of the actual CD available along with the ability to download the new tracks in either 320KBPS MP3 or FLAC, your choice. Either version is straight from the actual mastered album.

Peace!

Haven’t heard this.

Final is good stuff - however when it comes to ‘that sort of thing’ I actually prefer Mick Harris’ side project Lull.

Which reminds me, need to pick up the latest Lull from Cold Spring.

There was never a CD of ‘Afar’ it was originally limited to vinyl LP picture disc run of 500, and now there’s digital download.

yes, I much much prefer Lull to final. like a slow river is album of the year for me.

is Final the title of a Jesu album or is it a completely differnt project by JKB?

Completely different. He has been doing the Final thing since long before Jesu but before Godflesh disbanded. From what I can tell (and you would need to ask others as I’m no expert on this) it’s a lot like his project Techno Animal but a lot more accessible. I’m not a huge TA fan, so I’ve never really given Final much of a chance.

final is nothing like his other projects. No beats is a big difference. he’s been doing final since before he was in Napalm Death. it’s ambient/non-ambient stuff, not true background, but more like tape/loop manipulation of sound. some of it is very ambient-ish other bits are not. It doesn’t really compare to Lull, which is more true ambient, IMO. You should likely check the myspace page if you’re interested…

thanks

for the record TA is quite different depending on what album your listening too… I don’t care for Ghosts, but really loved Re-Entry.

Grmpy - if you like the ‘jesu’ ish fuzz walls of floating guitar, you might want to try ‘final: 3’ which was a 2 disc set on Neurot.

I’ll keep an eye out thanks a lot!

re-entry is some of JKB and K-Mart’s best material ever, one of my top 5 albums for sure.
