Jaz Coleman slags The Mission, goes missing

“Last month, the planned five-date U.K. arena tour featuring hard-rocking headliners The Cult with support from freshly reunited ’80s-era contemporaries The Mission and Killing Joke was unceremoniously downsized to smaller venues, presumably over poor tickets sales. Now the tour may have lost one its opening acts, too.
Rumors have circulated in recent days that Killing Joke, displeased with the change in venues, has quit the September tour. The band hasn’t made an official statement, although a scathing note about the tour and, specifically, The Cult (“All their songs suck!”), purportedly written by Jaz Coleman, was posted then removed from the band’s Facebook page.
In part, that note read: “Frankly, playing at a gig with The Cult never appealed to me in the first place. The only reason we allowed ourselves to be talked into it was to blow both bands off the stage and to steal their respective audiences. As the concert has been downgraded to a venue that we have recently headlined (and sold out) it doesn’t make sense.”
On Tuesday, Wayne Hussey of The Mission took to his band’s website to expound on the tour, writing, “I think the promoters have conceded that Killing Joke ARE puling out of the shows. We have tried to contact the band through their management, agents and promoters and it seems that no one is any the wiser and the band have gone incommunicado.”
Hussey noted that he agreed with some of the points in the purported Killing Joke post (“These are venues that we could easily play on our own,” he notes), and urges the promoters not to replace Killing Joke and instead just let The Mission and The Cult each play longer.
Lastly, Hussey shines some light on the now-deleted Facebook post (which you can read below): “I’ve just heard that the Facebook statement that was allegedly from Jaz wasn’t at all but from a fan that was hanging out with the band recently in Prague who paraphrased some of the comments made by Jaz and the band and took it upon himself to post it online. Apparently KJ are preparing their own statement which we wait for with bated breath and which will also confirm that they are still apparently pulling out of the tour.”
UPDATE: Still no statement from Killing Joke on the dates with The Cult and The Mission, but the band this morning announced a “once in a lifetime” Sept. 8 live appearance at London’s Metropolis Studios for the filming of a DVD. Tickets are priced at £195, or about $300.”

From KJ’s FB page;

"KILLING JOKE

Official Statement

A statement was posted on Facebook, reputedly by our singer, maligning both The Cult and The Mission and pulling us out of the shows.
… He is now AWOL and has not contacted any of his band mates.

We are deeply embarrassed by this and offer our sincere apologies to all involved.

We are all concerned about our missing singer’s welfare.

Killing Joke made a collective decision to play with The Cult and The Mission in September.

It was agreed by all of the band that we would do these shows. Indeed, we thought that they were something to look forward to, even though they were downsized.

We would still like to honour our commitment to this tour, the other bands, and all the Gatherers and people who have already bought tickets and made travel arrangements.

If this proves not possible, Killing Joke will make alternative arrangements to compensate for the trouble caused.

Meanwhile we are doing everything we can to make this tour happen and locate our missing singer.

KILLING JOKE"

Iceland?

Killing Joke opened for Motley Crue a few years ago. Seems funny to suddenly get picky about only playing with acts they deem up to their standards.

Meanwhile, they or their label still has no interest in releasing MMXII in the United States. And now Jaz has disappeared. These guys are just plain flaky.

Yeah, they seem to have had problems releasing MMXII in the US for some reason, i keep seeing that on their FB page. It’s a really great album, one of their best. Jaz is not right in the head though, that much is obvious. Maybe he’s a genius or whatever, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that he is possibly mentally ill. Normal people don’t behave like that.

Oh, he’s a total nut job. But he makes it work for him. How many times has he run off and vanished now? Three? There was him running to iceland, waiting for Armageddon. Ran off again in the 90s (Murder Inc era). And again, now? My guess with the album might have to do with finding a label?

Drama queen bullshit…I love KJ’s music but I am so over them…I’ve had tix so many times to see them live just to have them cancel at the last minute with some bullshit explanation…regardless of what Jaz thinks of the Cult or The Mission at least those bands show up and play their gigs and don’t leave their fans holding the bag of dog shit…it’s getting to the point where maybe a name change is in order…try dropping the “killing” part…

Yeah, their UK distribution is fine, but their US guys, if they even have any, don’t seem to be doing as good a job at all. I had tix for a show in Dublin that was cancelled, but it was the venue in that case who was at fault, KJ had told them months before that they couldn’t play, but they kept selling tickets anyway.

Jaz is obviously a ferociously intelligent guy, but how many conspiracies, UFOs and insanity can the human mind handle before it goes just that bit too strange? Regarding Murder Inc, i always wondered how Jaz took being kicked out of his own band, and how he ended up coming back and working with them again after that. It must have been a strange situation. I’m sure he’ll turn up again somewhere soon anyway, Prague, London, New Zealand, somewhere.

Maybe Antartica again to wait out the apocalypse…30 years later…

Hopefully the cold will slow his whirling mind down to normal levels and allow him to function like someone who’s not absolutely mental.

Something has to give…oh wait,it was Iceland where he and Geordie went to wait out the Apocalypse actually…

I secretly hope Jaz and Al are together, living a European version of Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas with Jaz as Raoul Duke and Al as Dr. Gonzo.

This is part of Jaz’s master plan for 2012?

He’s probably off buying wine to fill the cups of all his friends who can’t make it to whatever social gathering is planned.

Music went to hell since I’ve been off the boards.

Jeez.

Have you all considered that maybe JAZ is suffering from heat exhaustion? Well? HAVE YOU???

Have you all considered that maybe JAZ is suffering from heat exhaustion? Well? HAVE YOU???

No why would JAZ suffer from heat exhaustion?

The so called statement from Jaz was bullshit. Jaz never wrote it. Funnily enough all the MLB facebook accounts were hacked at the same time time too with hilarious “official” posts quickly removed. The San Diego Padres one was the best…it said something along the lines of “disabled people are strongly advised not to attend home games”. The Yankees one was about one of their top players being out for a month due to a sex change.

But yeah Jaz Coleman never wrote any statement with regards to the tour with Cult & Mission…he is however still missing.

Did the A’s get hacked?

Did the A’s get hacked?

I don’t think so…

This guy is a Douche with a capital BAG! The only odd part about him going missing is that someone is looking for him.

So did Jazz ever reappear?
