WHOA! sad news quake caused a tsunami too. Hope your family is ok.
Most of my family is in the prefecture of Shizuoka. When they called about an hour ago they were okay. But aftershocks continue and tsunamis also continue to pulverize the coast.
It is horribly surreal as I’m watching live footage of entire villages getting completely wiped off the map.
I’m actually most concerned for my wife as she is breaking down completely seeing this stuff and watching her country get rocked and knowing that all her family is there.
[reply]My flight has been cancelled until tomorrow.
So they’re letting you fly into Japan???[/reply]
It’s kind of up in the air now . . . .
My Singapore Air flight cannot go because the plane for it is in Tokyo. It was pushed out to tomorrow because the plane needs to get to LA before it can go back out.
I just don’t see this as a bankable option, so I’m pursuing other routes now, and will probably fly to Taiwan late tonight and then to Singapore from there.
Think about everything that’s happening. Not just in Japan. Let alone on this planet. We’ve had a similar sign before that was pretty much directly linked to Hurricane Katrina (and which originated (possibly) from a geological disturbance in the horn of Africa). Forget HAARP conspiracy tin-foil on heads bullshit, this is way beyond us.
Can’t say I’m worried, though. This universe is nothing more than an anomaly inconsistent with its own self. Shut your eyes, enjoy the ride, listen to black fucking metal.
Been following this since early this morning. Now there’s an issue with a nuclear reactor and in lieu of backup coolant systems (they’re on the fritz), they’re letting off radioactive steam into the atmosphere.
This world is a scary place, man. Gunnar, best of hopes/wishes/prayers to the family.
I’m at the airport now. My original flight seemed way dicey and I just know it’ll keep getting pushed back. So I’m flying out tonight via Taiwan instead.
To address Dildo, though: I’m making this routing purely as a business decision (I need to get to Singapore, and the sooner, the better). If I had my choice where to go, it would be straight to Japan. I know it’s effed up and I know I wouldn’t be that much help, but that’s where my heart is right now and I hate seeing this stuff on web and internet.
I’d rather be experiencing it instead of observing it. I feel so helpless and heartbroken and I wish I could share in the tragedy instead of sitting in this stupid airport lounge right now, eating overpriced appetizers and drinking 8 dollar beers.
