Saw some news from friends on both facebook and twitter. Sad.
Oh man. I saw his twitter. O.D. of sleeping pills? What’s the deal?
The guitarist from RevCo’s RetroSpectacle lineup???
Ugh, seeing the reaction on the Wax Trax FB page, very sad news.

Yeah, awful news. Acumen were top notch. I wore out the first 2 albums in college. Loved almost everything they did since. Had the pleasure of seeing them live a few years ago when they actually came here and played a full set to all 5 people (literally) in the crowd - and did it with all the energy they would have if it were 2000. Saw Jamie with (Not) Revco and thought he did a great job. Never actually met him, but by all accounts, he was a great guy, great musician and a huge fan if good music. What a sad loss. I know a few folks on here were tight with him, so my condolences. Just remember everyone: suicide is a crappy thing to do to those who care about you.
I was never a big fan of the Acumen family of bands, but it’s sad to see a guy from the scene go. Especially like that.
This is some tragic shit. Just now saw the twitter stuff, and I’m appalled. Poor guy. My thoughts go out to his people.

SIGH…With all due respect, have you suffered from mental illness? Those who end their lives normally are not in their right minds. Just saying. They have no choice sometimes…
I’m not trying to stir anything up on this place, but people don’t choose to die of cancer, do they?
Not the same thing to me. Terminally ill, suffering greatly, and having a numbered amount of days is one thing; making a terminal decision due to just about any other reason is another.

You just answered what i was saying. Thanks. I hope you never EVER have to help a loved one through mental illness. I love how you make the said illness as just some flap “decision”. Please go back and read my 1st sentence. If not, i understand…[reply][/reply]

it IS a crappy thing to do for the people who care about you. it doesnt make it any less the right thing for you, or any less the only thing you feel you can do.
in fact, when someone has a mental illness and then do take their life, it is a horrible and tragic thing for all the people who love/loved them. i have been there, and it is a really destructive thing to find out that a close friend has killed themselves, but the action of suicide isnt about ME, or any other person who loves the victim, it is about THEM and THEIR pain/illness/confusion/sadness.
so in a way you are both right. haha.
When there is nothing else, there is always hope.
Assumptive: I have survived both, two different family members.
When there is nothing else, there is always hope.
No, there is NOT always hope – (at least not in the mind of the person suffering from [insert illness or affliction here or mental status here] ).
Hence why people committ suicide.
