New Al Jourgesen & Mark Thwaite Song Debut To Pay Homage To Paul Raven
Category: Music
Uncle Al Jourgensen and guitarist Mark Thwaite (Mission UK, Peter Murphy, Tricky, Mob Research), both long-time friends of and collaborators of the late Killing Joke/Ministry bassist Paul Raven, have joined forces to create the song “It’s Always Christmas Time”.
This new track will be released in the near future as a digital download BUT in honor of the memory of Paul Raven 13th Planet will preview the entire track for one day only on October 20th, 2009, the second anniversary of Raven’s death. Listen to the track for 24 hours only on Ministry’s Myspace Page.
A new video collage of Paul Raven’s life by long-time friend, Dean Karr has been posted on the Paul Raven Tribute page, 13th Planet Youtube and other related sites.
In further tribute to our fallen comrade this video collage will be screened before RevCo’s performance October 20th in Jacksonville, FL on the LubricaTour.
having a hard time not being excited to hear this…
How did he die again? cocaine induced heart attack? can’t remember or was it ever released?
Late,
grmpysmrf
It was a heart attack yeah, but I’m not sure if it was cocaine induced.
“How can it always be Christmas time when every day is Halloween?” [rimshot]
The song is probably gonna be Everyday is Halloween with different lyrics and little guitar strumming.
Forgive my cynicism but Paul Raven died 2 years ago. This dedication seems to me just putting another name to a track to give it more exposure. Ministry usually listed RIPs to a few people for each album but that was subtle. Raven played on one Ministry album, TLS. If John Monte died would Al write a song for him?
I wish they would stop calling him ‘Uncle’ Al as well.
But still I will check out the song to see what way Jourgensen is going with this “solo” stuff.

And jingle bells. It can’t be a Christmas song without jingle bells.
I think Raven’s death has really messed with Al in a major way. And, I think to some degree, it’s also a reason why he ended Ministry. I don’t know why.
I do know Al was a fan of his way before Ministry - Al has always been a fan of Killing Joke, and chances are he started a friendship with him since the early 90’s.
I’m sure if Paul Barker died he’d be upset too. You just get to a certain age where the small shit isn’t worth fighting about anymore…
[reply][reply]Allow me to make the obvious comment:

DUN DUN Jingle Jingle DUN DUN DO DO
DUN DUN Jingle Jingle DUN DUN DO DO
“I live with wreaths and sleighs and other things that bring joy to the kids. And to me everyday is Christmas Morn’, I’ve given up fighting and started to sing!”
I don’t think it’s meant to be the song so much that’s a tribute to Raven but the fact that both people involved worked with him in different capacities and love and miss him that’s the tribute.
So i’m guessing the proceeds are towards Raven’s family, or is that just
ridiculous to ask? I’m curious to hear this, as it’s likely a good hint as to what this solo material might be like.
