Anyone going to make any of these shows? I’m going to the Birmingham show. I just can’t believe that Pelican and Isis are touring together. The only thing better would be both of them opening for Jesu.

I saw Pelican open for Red Sparowes a few years ago, and i’ve seen Isis twice, once with Jesu opening.

I’ll go catch the show in Detriot more than likely.

Wow, Pelican and Isis. That’s badass. I hope I can do the Houston show.

It’s nice to see Jack Rabbits turn into a happening. It’s a dive, but a decent one - they have candy machines that dispense earplugs!!! I might check it out in NYC depending on schedule…who knows…

This sounds cool. I’ve seen Pelican live and they were good. Not much energy, but their music is the hypnotic instrumental type. More the kind of shit I’d like in the background than live, but paired with Isis and with a shorter set list (they were headlining when I saw them and I was coming down off of shitty weed) it would work.

As far as Isis, I like the stuff off of their amazing Oceanic: The Remixes album over most of their original material. Makes me wish they would incorporate more electronics into their sound and put more effects on the singers voice or whatever the cookie monster screaming constantly is one thing holding them back IMO.

To the one asking about these bands, they are Stoner Metal bands. Pelican is instrumental and Isis has a screaming vocalist and occasionally utilizes female singing vocals (not sure about live). They are hypnotic and use heavy distorted guitars. Isis has a great drummer who uses lots of toms but minimally (not like Danny Carrey) and the effect is an intense slow buildup.

I got my tickets for this the other day. I’m way excited. I even found Tombs’ album at Hot Topic and got it, and it’s also really good.
