The first thing the Irish do whenever there is a new U.S. president is look for his possible Irish roots. JFK was was huge in Ireland in the 60s, even bigger than the pope. Reagan wasn’t appreciated because he denied his Irish roots. Bush was not cared for either because there’s no substantial Irish link. One of my friends worked for Barack last summer as an intern and invited him over to Ireland for some Guinness and Gaelic football. O’Bama said he would be over at some point.
The Democratic party are fans of that song and supposedly have played it to the man himself.
That’ll make 24 of 44 POTUS that have some Irish blood.
JFK was the only Catholic which means that most were of Protestant descent or what we call in the States “Scots-Irish”. Which means they were actually Scottish or English, not really Irish.
Meself…I’m an eighth Irish. A great-grandmother was a Murphy.
