Thanks you, I was very curious about this unknown side project.[cool]
awesome.
unknown side project
it’s not a side project, it was before ministry.
Excellent stuff. Afra & co. again deliver info on a sadly overlooked gem of a band. So the singer was what, 17-18 when those songs were cut? That’s a bit more believable than him being 15 as the earlier reports said but he STILL doesn’t sound his age there.
Any more info–what did Ben Krug do after the Carmichaels dissolved and he finished high school? Was he involved in any other bands or the music biz in any capacity?
A bloody shame Al never did any “solo” efforts that sounded even close to SA or the Carmichaels. While on that topic…
just look at what Al did prior to Ministry and on the side in the Arista/Wax Trax years…there was potential for him to go in any number of directions.
Based on all of Al’s output all the way back to Special Affect up through Twitch, the odds of him ending up making faceless hellbilly metal music seemed incredibly less likely than him going off in some bizarre (and arguably, far more musically interesting) Mike Pattonesque meets Cabaret Voltaire meets Magazine meets PWEI meets King Tubby-style direction.
Interesting. I might be the only person in the world you’ll find who actually attended a Carmichaels show.
After reading the Ben Krug interview, I’m pretty sure I was at the 950 gig. I remember the movie being projected behind the band with the Dali dream sequence bit. I had though it was a Special Affect gig all these years.

So how was it?

I don’t remember. I mean, if I thought it was a Special Affect gig all these years, I’m probably fuzzy on the details anyway.
