Has anyone seen these guys live before? They are in town tonight and I am having a hard time passing them up due to the novelty factor alone.

ha!

i had their tape waaaaaaaaay back in the day. shit, go, if you got nothing else going on. but i bet it will suck - still you might have fun.

totally dig the hits…running away, etc.

The Dreaded One’s flesh and blood, huh? Heh. Cool.

IngSoc ain’t my bag. Gave them a shot, didn’t click with me.

I don’t think their flaky original singer is with them anymore. Might want to check into that before you go.

AFAIK, Kurt Harland still is doing his video game sound/music work but is still occasionally involved in the band. He did sing on one song on their new album that came out last year and played a few live gigs. According to Wikipedia. he’s still involved with the group in some capacity or another so if it was a recent live show, then he may very likely have been the vocalist.

On a related note, It’s hysterical to watch the video for Over the Shoulder. Al has that post-apocalyptic new romantic, Boy George meets Kurt Harland who goes punk look going in that video.

I thought that the first INSOC album was actually pretty good as a uniquely American relic of the time. And I got Peace and Love Inc. shortly after it came out in '92 or '93 and though it sounded dated & kinda cheesy even when it was new, it was an underrated, well programmed album.

I wonder if Al was aware of them back then. Their first album came out in '88, but they were around since '82.

Meanwhile, Rogue from the Cruxshadows STILL looks like that 23 years too late.

The classic Insoc stuff was all good, but Don’t Be Afraid (Kurt’s solo album under the Insoc name) is by far my favorite. Great stuff and it’s a shame he only did one album’s worth.

And for fun reading, Kurt’s old (1995) Insoc page (complete with details on the VH1 Band’s Reunited fiasco) is still online here: http://insoc.org/

Al was definitel aware of them, as they played at least one date together back in 83. Whether he cared or not - no idea.

And I just caught the Cruxshadows live Sunday night. Great show, as always.
