FKKKKKKKKKKKKKK THANKS FOR THIS!!!

I wasn’t really taken with Amon’s new album…in fact it was the first time a new Amon album hadn’t really blown me away upon first, second & third listen. However after seeing this it all made perfect sense…the music from the new album was designed specifically for this live audio visual extravaganza and fits absolutely beautifully.

Amon Tobin is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of the competition as usual. This is simply incredible next level shit and these are live shows which MUST be seen if you’re lucky enough to have it come to a town near you.

Well, theres no doubt that it takes a second or third listen to soak in, but being a fan of his since the 90s and all of his jazz influenced monster orchestrations, as an artist I welcome his new venture. Where now he is fking around with granular and micro sound, creating soundscapes and music from warping different frequencies and making them instruments, plus this live visual is just mind blowing. Reminds me of some three dimensional cubist abstraction with a view into the future.

The visuals are incredible…just absolutely mind blowing! I mean watching it on a little screen is obviously nothing compared to being there! Check out the description of the live shows…

“The ISAM tour will feature a stunning 25’ x 14’ x 8’ multi-dimensional/ shape shifting 3-D art installation surrounding Tobin and enveloping him and the audience in a beyond 3-D experience. A fantastic visual journey to accompany ISAM.”

I saw him here in Edinburgh in 2002 or 2003 and he was armed with a laptop, two turntables and a mixer…just with that he was absolutely deadly. One of the heaviest shows I’ve even heard period. Even the mellow beautiful tunes from Bricolage were incredibly crushing due to the massive bass levels and mixing he was doing.

This new live experience of his looks simply out of this world. How he’s done this is beyond me.

Amon Tobin rules.

yeah, he is definitely the king of the low end. I caught him here in Austin a couple of years ago at sxsw…and it was the same setup as you seen him. He had a single back drop, but the club had a surround sound system just for his show. Hearing the Big Furry Head from the foley room sessions was the lowest bass clean bass…ive ever heard. What Jack Dangers failed to ever do Amon aced it.

Big Furry Head is brilliant. The way the tiger growl is incorporated into the bass is genius. I can only imagine how that sounded on a huge surround sound system!

I’ve seen Amon about 2 or 3 times I believe, the last time was the 5.1 surround sound Foley Room tour. It was in an old, 1920’s movie theatre in NYC, with stadium style seating, and I got there early enough to grab a seat dead in the center. Didn’t realize it at first, but I sat right behind Amon who was talking to some people, talked to him for a bit, that was great.

I was BIG into Amon for a period of time. I wasn’t too crazy for Foley Room though, and once ISAM was up for listen on his website, I was less into that than Foley Room. Programming wise,it’s certainly impressive, actually if anything, reminds me of some Otto von Schriach type programming at times (listening to the samples on itunes as I type ) . Out From Out Where is probably my favorite still.

However, after watching the clips of his new stage show, I’d be DAMNED to miss this if he brings it to NYC.

Very nice.

Will be picking this album up - even though I have never bought an Amon Tobin album in my life.

Agreed. Haven’t been a fan of his since Chaos Theory, but I still admire his talent and his remixes. In fact, he has done of the best remixes ever with Foetus’ “Cirrhosis Of the Heart” (on Blow).

Very nice.

Will be picking this album up - even though I have never bought an Amon Tobin album in my life.

I think you’ll like the new Tobin album seeing as you’re partial to soundtracks Peligro.

Out From Out Where is an incredible album.

My favourite is Permutation though.

To be honest though I love all of his stuff from Bricolage through to Foley Room. The new one has made sense to me now seeing these live clips.

Tobin’s weakest album is the Chaos Theory soundtrack…yet that’s still great stuff.

If I was to suggest albums that I imagine Peligro would dig I’d say after you pick the new one up get…

Amon Tobin is incredible and one of a kind.

The Lighthouse and Ruthless off of Chaos Theory are amazing tracks. The drums toward the end of the Lighthouse, he pretty much spews over all different electronic genres…amazing!

Yeah for sure…the fact something that great is from his weakest album really goes to show the talent of this guy.

His Cujo album “Adventures In Foam” has some great stuff on it too.

I really hope he tours the U.S. with this show… so far nothing posted :frowning:

I agree, Splinter Cell isn’t his strongest album, but I tend to forget about it,maybe because I consider it more of a game soundtrack than an album, and for some reason I equate that to being not on par with a regular album anyway. Even so, it has it’s moments…I need to listen to that one again. I will today. I know the Lighthouse has wicked-cool Simon Gallup of the Cure-like bass, and awesome drum work. And it has a remix of one of my favorite songs of his, Cougar Merkin. mmm…Cougars…

As for his new album, need to give it more of a try. I’m afraid this poor lad has to listen to the album via youtube, and I streamed it already on his site as one long track.

I’m listening to the song “Journeyman” and I find it very funny, perhaps a coincidence. When he was doing his NY show that I was talking about,me and a friend were looking to the top row of the theatre and saw two guys wearing really baggy pants, and cloak-like hoodies that looked like robes. They had sunglasses on,long hair, and beards. My friend and I always see people similiar to this at concerts, and we call them “Journeymen” , as in,they are probably consuming lots of drugs and going on a journey alright! Amon was in front of us while having this convo, and he turned around and when he saw those guys,he started laughing and had to turn back around as to not be noticed by them. I really wonder if this track was inspired or influenced by that moment (I doubt it )

Amazing. I would give someone’s body part to see this live.

re-listened to Chaos Theory before. home alone,in bed, with earplugs. overcast gray skies. volume not too high, not too low. I actually found it to be a very deep record, there were ALOT of things I never picked up on before until today. lots of layers. at times, you really have to listen to the background more than the foreground to really hear what’s going on,if that makes sense. that’s where Amon’s working his magic, while the live musicians are doing their thing.

I appreciate the album alot more now. It’s certainly a transitional record- in fact it would have been very hard to follow up Out From Out Where with a pure electronic record. You can hear the electronic elements of OFOW on it,but as I said, at times it’s buried deep. Then you have the live musicisan aspect of the album, which again would be explored on The Foley Room, with very little in-studio creations, just found sounds fucked up beyond belief. With this in mind, the transition from OFOW to Foley Room seems to make alot more sense.

I need to give The Foley Room a listen like I did Choas Theory. I’d like to see how his music evolved into ISAM. As a matter of fact, I’d have to listen to his monthly joints series as well, which bridges the gap even more.

I really think that his “beats” will be going with his Two Fingers project, and the more experimental, abstract stuff will be with his solo material. In other words, we can’t expect (nor should we) another 4 Ton Mantis, or Verbal on his solo records…but something along that style would fit great on Two Fingers.

The Two Fingers album is awesome.

Foley Room is genius.

I’ll have to dig out Chaos Theory again and pop on the headphones as I haven’t heard it for a few years.
