Never expected this one in a million years. As mentioned in another thread, http://al-jourgensen.squarespace.com/downloads/ has I’ll Do Anything For You as a download this week. This one was played live in some of the later 1984 shows, but never surfaced as a studio recording. He calls it an unreleased track from With Sympathy, but I’ve always thought it was from later sessions (possibly the ones that resulted in the Same Old Scene cover).
This one’s got some obvious recent touch-ups. May take a couple listens to really figure it out, but it sounds like he rerecorded the vocals as well? Definitely not his 1984 voice. Not sure if that’s necessarily good or bad. But definitely appreciating this gem from left field.
Yeah. Hell froze over. Whether he’s feeling froggy, or needs the money, or finally (gasp) grew up, it was enough to put this online for the nations to hear.
holy fuck! i came here to post about it but i guess i got beat to it. new with sympathy material!!! it definitely sounds like it’s been remastered. i’d love to hear the original but i guess we can’t complain. i like it!
i got banned from the ministry FB for saying al was embarrassing lol.

Yeah, when you hear the outro vocals there is no doubt about that.
Listen close to the right channel, it sounds like the original percussion track, and the sync is slightly off in places (mostly towards the end) with the ‘new’ drum track. I think Al may also be overdubbing a new vocal over the old one, there’s definitely some odd layering of tracks going on. I’m surprised he would put any effort into the old material, much less make it available to the fans. Cool to hear, but also a little weird.
When it goes “you you you” it sounds just like Paul Barker in Lead to Gold. Although, obviously, it isn’t Barker.
I thought the same thing. Obviously not Barker, but “Al Jourgensen and Paul Barker reunite to sing With Sympathy outtakes” would certainly be something I’d pay money to hear.
I don’t think it’s ever been mentioned, but maybe wempathy might could assist… i put some Naked Eyes on my iPhone and cannot get over how much Early Ministry sounds like them or vice-versa.
Upon listening to the 1984 and 2014 versions back to back, I think the new one is actually the better, ‘edgier’ vocal take. The repetitions of “you” after the chorus are just kinda shouty in 1984, but in the 2014 remix (at around 3:45) he comes across as more seething and resentful about all the dumb shit he describes doing, even though he is euphorically in love and he’s unquestionably going to do it. I can relate to that.

Surprising, to say the least. Discussed this one with a couple of old cohorts and none of us remembers it. That dates it at some point after Spring of '84? It’s not a WS remnant…that’s certain.

Agreed. This track didn’t surface until Al was touring in 1984 with a different lineup. He probably just referenced “With Sympathy” to draw attention - which it certainly did.
I agree with the post that the vocals sound re-recorded.
We’ve waited 30 years for him to come around. What a gift to the longtime fans. I forgot that with Al “It’s Always Christmas Time.”
