LOL i like that one guys comment " how do u go from a synthpop band to a load ass industrial metal band - one word heroin" one of these days jourgensen is gonna be sorry he turned his back on With Sympathy

Ministry - With Sympathy (80’s synth shit at its finest)

I have more or less share carmangary’s opinion.
It doesn’t measure up to the best stuff from that era and style; however, some songs are memorable (Effigy, Revenge, She’s Got A Cause) and I do believe it was one of the first attempts at synth pop coming out of America.

I love it. I think Ministry did a great job of melding the 80s sound with the metal “metal was always sniffing around Wax trax” Im kinda liking the killers version of Shadowplay from Joy Division.

I wonder which ones are his and which ones were forced on him.

I think wempathy answers this question every couple of months. Do a little searching and you shall find your answers (as I recall, it’s pretty obvious which ones were overseen by label appointed producers, when you think about it).

…I thought I was posting that to Piss Army and didn’t want to mention wempathy. haha.

Why?

Do they hate me? [;)]

With Sympathy really should’ve been way more successful, just on the strength of the A-side (is Arista to blame for lack of promotion?)…that is new wave synthpop at it’s finest. Side B really only has a couple of dings - “What He Say”, and “She’s Got A Cause” (the vox are a little too ‘rosey’ for me). This album is still Top 5 Ministry in my book.

I love “What He Say/Do the Etawa” for the inherent cheese factor alone.

And I totally think that the synth breakdown after the chorus would kick all the ass if played on guitar.
