But I just found the “Official Alien Jourgensen” facebook page. I have noticed you guys posting about him gong to rehab and reading it on facebook, but I always imagined it would be on the ministry facebook page.
anyway… man. jeez. so who writes the posts does the pics? angie? the post with him and his dog, doesn’t even look like him. I don’t even think he’s wearing his dreads.
I think Al writes the posts himself, they’re full of crazy talk and spelling errors. Before he went to rehab the posts were sporadically funny but mainly just sad, the state he was in, but since he got out, i have to hand it to him, his posts have been really, genuinely funny and he seems to be in a good way now. I know some of the pics were taken by his assistant, mainly the ones where he decided to stage a one man protest against some chain of shops that had an anti-contraceptive clause to their health plan.
Yeah, i think the all caps was his attempt at having a trademark or something, haha. But i’m surprised at how funny he is these days, i pretty much buried my head in my hands when i read any of his pre-rehab FB posts, but now it’s pretty much all funny.
Al’s in rehab??? POSER. I mean, POSEUR!!! Ya know, like all of those whiny pussies in his book who got their shit together?
Just joshing… But really, if he is or isn’t in rehab or is or isn’t getting help for his addiction(s) I do wish him well. From TLORAH until 2004 he’s a fucking juggernaut to me. I’d be incredibly bummed if I heard any bad news about him.
I like it too. Better than anything on DSotS, if you ask me.
“Eureka Pile” still slays them all. DSOTS is perfectly insane and bleak, in my opinion.
Any album that captures the sort of emotions it does so well shouldn’t be popular or well liked by many. Not a lot of people wanna listen to something that makes them feel like they’re being pulled through the rabbit hole or hitting rock bottom while taking sporadic hits of nitrous oxide on the way down.
dsots is… claustrophobic or something. kinda smothering.
to me, ministry’s last “true” album was animositisomina.
sure it offered nothing new (other than ear-bleeding mixing and mastering) and it had tracks that sounded like things you may have heard on the previous records
afterwards, it’s just al’s solo butt-metal output from 2004 onwards.
as for al & co appearing in the movie, they appear for like what, 10 seconds of total screen time, big deal.
still, that monitor guitar and especially the “ribcage” bass look badass
I like to pretend that everything after Animosity never happened. That it’s a different Al and another one of his shitty side projects (which isn’t really untrue).
DSOTS is definitely claustrophobic but the album, musically, is oddly full of a lot of space. It’s not crammed in every freq and field with some effect or sound… or at least not in such an obvious way. There’s so much subtlety to that album that I’ll sometimes hear something new in a song still to this day. It’s just dark purple, suffocating, slime and I always go back to it and I always turn it up louder and enjoy it more than any of the other albums. There’s no attempt to appease or apologize for itself with that record.
