This thread’s inspired me to listen to The Last Sucker with a fresh of set of ears. Two years and a burgeoning appreciation for metal later and it sounds slightly better than when I first listened and wrote it off for sounding like a complete rehash. There’s some quality riffs throughout, “Let’s Go” and “End of Days” are both decent for what they are (NWO Part X and a sample-based “epic”), but what redeems the album for me is still “Die in a Crash”. It sounds like a leftover Lard tune to me but I really enjoy the chorus and the bassline. Wish the rest of the album had that type of infectious energy.

I have always enjoyed “Die in a Crash” and felt it was an interesting area for Ministry to go into, I agree with you in wishing the whole album had been more like it. “End of Days” is a lot of fun too, those are the only two tracks off LS that are on my iTunes.
Those three songs are definitely the best of TLS. The other tunes on there are so unremarkable, I remember none of them. “Let’s Go” was a great concert opener, too.
Well, except The Dick Song, which has the distinction of being the worst original Ministry song in existence.

The last sucker is an awesome tune! That chorus is fun to sing along with. I think the only one I really don’t care for is roadhouse blues.

I like TLS okay as an album of thrashy metal buttness. It’s just hard for me to enjoy it as MINISTRY album since I know the greatness that band was once capable of and the history Al used to have of pushing limits and challenging ideals and genres and such.
It just seems so formulaic and by the numbers. There’s nothing really exciting or original.
RGB, on the other hand, I can’t even listen to at all. I just hate it.

There’s no accounting for taste around here. I mean, I hate bombastic music with overly-distorted vocals, no melodic content and insipid lyrics but it doesn’t stop me from hanging out here now and then. No offense taken and no apology necessary. This is still one of my favorite places to kill time and you’re still one of my favorite posters on this site. Cheers.

Huge drop off after Filth Pig though. I rarely listen to anything after Animos.
A year ago I would have DSOTS ranked at the bottom of the list but that bitch has grown on me. Tracks Like Eureka Pile and Supermanic Soul are some gems, I’ve always said that DSOTS is the equivalent of Skinny puppy’s Rabies LOL.
