How To Destroy Angels (NIN Related)

They are giving away the first EP free, as an option:

I ordered the poster version and am listening to “The Believers” right now. Great track, easily my favorite of the three I’ve heard. Also, the art for the album is the best Trent related artwork since ever.

I’ll probably get the hi-def one, but I was really hoping for a physical release.

EDIT: OK, the CD is coming in July. I’ll just get the standard free version for now, then.

The artwork is excellent, I might pick up that poster. I like the new song but I think the second one with the cool video is the best one yet.

i’m really liking this project so far. probably the best thing trent has put out since still?

I may ask you to send me The Believers if you can - the download seems to be freezing up on me.

‘Still’ was a high point for NIN, but ‘Ghosts’ had its moments too.

The free download option, I presume, is crammed at the moment. I had the same problem. The $2 option seems to not present the same trouble, according to facebook comments. You pay and you will receive I guess.

Eh, I’ll be paying when the cd comes out.
So I can wait.

Ghosts was good, but i don’t think it had the “heart” his other instrumentals had. the songs sound empty and devoid of any emotion…which is the exact opposite for Still and his other instrumentals (e.g a warm place)

Ghosts has a lot of amazing stuff, but also has a lot of not-so-amazing stuff there as well. It’s a mixed bag. First disc for instance, I love the first two tracks, but the third, not so much. He wanted to get experimental, do instrumental songs outside of his comfort zone. Some of it worked really well, and some of it didn’t. I can certainly pick out a handful of songs worth listening to again on a regular basis. I surely wouldn’t pick quite a few of them though.

The Ghosts songs were a nice addition to the Lights In The Sky tour. Very avantgarde

Yeah, that was very good. Not your typical NIN performance, but that makes it even better.

Yeah those lights shows wwas one of the best concert experiences Ive ever had. Cant decide which was the better of the two shows. Too bad the setlist I got during NINJA was complete shite

Faith +1

Aight, that warrants a chuckle. Well done.

The EP’s great, especially the track “Fur Lined” which I’ve listened to 30 times in the past 3 hours. Actually I’ve only listened to the rest once, this track just instantly obsessed me.

I’ve ran through the EP a few times and am quite impressed. I think HTDA will have a decent future. Of the six songs there is not one obvious weak point (there are one or two that comparatively not as strong others). It basically is NIN continued but with a female singer, but it is compelling regardless of the NIN badge, ie. if you didn’t like post-Fragile NIN you still may like this. The first track - ‘The Space in Between’ is the strongest track; brilliant tempo and mood, all the ingredients work well together. ‘Parasite’ is a decent, beat driven, largely instrumental track, the vocals are much less prominent and are more muffled. The mid point with ‘Fur Lined’ & ‘BBB’ is a great sequence of songs, probably the two best after the opener. ‘BBB’ is a sexy stomper that has some nightclub potential, if anyone bothered to try it out. ‘The Believers’ is similar to ‘Parasite’ in that it concentrates largely on electronic noodling but is maybe less groovy. ‘A Drowning’, which I wasn’t fond of when I first heard it, seems better after following the 5 songs on the EP, they shouldn’t have released it before this album release.

All in all I’m well pleased with this EP. A slight worry I had that it might be lame was quickly allayed. The sample video clips that were first released gave the impression of slower, more experimental tracks. The album is a lot more polished and conventional, but not to any detriment. The art direction on this project is excellent. They know what they’re doing, to put it simply.

Maandig is sexy as hell. Trent, you dog.

A Drowning definitely works better in the context of the album.
Overall, I dunno. Sometimes Trent’s stuff takes awhile to grow on me, but I haven’t heard anything that’s blown me away from the start since Year Zero (and a lot of that may have been the viral buildup). Not to say that I don’t like it, it’s just not blowing my mind.

read this shit.

Ummmm ok?
