I thought the beats and programming on Blitz were a few steps ahead of its predecessor (seriously, half of Tohuvaboh sounds like it was commissioned for a DTV action movie) and I think maybe we have Skold to credit for that. The dynamics between the guitars, keyboards and beats sounded more subtle and defined than on the past few efforts. It’s just the vocal work that is getting really stale for me. You can almost make a drinking game out of the ghost-En Esch and Skold vocal parts now where either Sascha and Lucia take their place.
Impossible, I saw them onstage together.
They played one of the dullest songs from Saul’s album. What were they thinking?
True dat…when NIN does a Saul Williams track live you can count on it being dull.
I thought Trent Reznor WAS Saul Williams.
No no no…Trent is a honky. Saul is a soul brother.
There’s another video up on their facebook. Trent (?) playing slide guitar. Again it’s very NIN but I like how it’s sounding.
First song, ‘A Drowning’: http://pitchfork.com/news/38686-how-to-destroy-angels-a-drowning/
It uses similar piano that was used on ‘Right Where It Belongs’ (I think). It’s basically NIN with a woman vocalist. Not impressive on first listen. Might just be that I don’t have much time for people singing about drowning, like a teenage girl might do.
But fuck me, check out the Mrs.
Another aspect that you failed in Al.
Were you expecting something different?
I do like that it’s got a new project name, so nobody can accuse him of messing up the original act by adding the Mrs. (see above discussion).
I think Trent depressed his wife.
Total Dejá vu or Dejá ecouté. I like some of the sounds, but as a song it’s nothing special. That’s why I always prefer the little snippets.
I like the overall sound of the track and love the sampled horns break down (that was awesome). It does sound like new NIN, but that’s a good thing to me.
However, the song goes on about three minutes too long on first listen and the singers voice lacks Trent’s range. I’ll see if this changes after a few more listens.
Were you expecting something different?
I was expecting the sun to shine out of…

Shit damn TR’s wife is a hottie!
More photos like that?
Yes she’s hot and actually has curves as well. Good on you, Trent.
I’ll listen to the song later.
Is anyone really surprised that such a control freak would make music with other people that sounded like anything other than how his own music sounds?
His wife is a hottie. Damn. About to check the song. Where do you find pics like that? heh.
damn…nice.
Oh, DAMN.
Trent’s done three good things in his life.
- Pretty Hate Machine
- Suck
- THAT

You forgot $$$
The Drowning is now available for purchase on mp3.amazon.com, btw.
I’m going to wait for the full e.p. myself (in CD form, if they go that route), but I thought I’d mention it.
Just heard “A Drowning.” As a huge NIN fan, I gotta say, I’m not overly impressed. The horn breakdown was kind’ve nifty, but the rest of the track sounds like NIN-lite (BORING NIN-lite) with a trademark Goth queen vocalist.
just put her on EVERY album cover and all will be well my good man…
Girls look so much better oiled up…and wrestling…naked.
