When the first clips of “The Land of Rape and Honey” from 2018 showed up on YouTube, I knew I could hear Al singing (maybe in a lower octave) over the familiar album vocal track. This clip of JBMHR from April is too obvious, and sounds like Gibby’s vocal track that was pitch-shifted for their live tuning. Al is practically masking his mouth over the mic with hands. This isn’t a criticism, just a curiosity. It can’t be easy for him to be screaming out some of these songs after all this time.
All the more reason for Al to dip into the back catalog and sing more acoustic, melodic numbers like “Everyday is Halloween”…he sounded fine on that one
HAHAHAHA!!! It doesn’t even sorta sound like Al is singing. Why even pretend for this one? Play your fucking harmonica, Al. Obviously the crowd is going fully ballistic and loving every second regardless. They don’t need to be treated like idiots.
And there are tons of current and past cast and hangers on that would love to take over vocals for that one, so you could still give a proper live vocal track if that’s important to anyone. But if it’s important enough to pretend, it should be important enough to actually DO.
What’s funny is how he used to say in interviews that Ministry was like Milli Vanilli back during his With Sympathy days…well, maybe Ministry is more like Milli Vanilli nowadays…what a terrible irony and humiliating parody of himself Uncle Al has become.
Just watch any Ministry live vid the last few years, Al lip syncs on quite a bit. I’m glad I missed out the last couple tours. They might as well use a hologram Al and completely pretend. It will be just as “enjoyable”.
