how many of you been here.

your at a killer show up close , and you a have a bunch of rednecks around you talking shit like they shouldn’t even be at the show.while your trying to tape and ruin the whole show for you.

I try not to let assholes ruin shows for me. I just enjoy the band, hanging out with friends, and meeting cool new people. How the fuck do you hear people talk shit while at a show anyway?

There’s been shows I’ve been too where there were asshole fans and the show just sucked in general (TOOL, as I’d mentioned in another thread).

Happens all the time. Why the fuck go to a show you have no interest in? That’s an expensive conversation. And yeah, the people who watch the show through their fucking phone should be shot. Arseholes, that really infuriates me. It’s just as bad at the cinema, i went to see The Last Stand with my dad and ended up having to tell 5 dudes to shut the fuck up and put their phones away, which they immediately did, the chickenshit bastards. They muttered about “getting” me afterwards, yet when i looked straight at them outside the cinema, they all looked at the floor and walked away. Big men.

I probably need a little more detail as to what these “rednecks” are doing and what you mean by “talking shit” to pass judgment on them. If they’re just wise-crackin’ and talkin’ smack about stuff before a band takes stage, I don’t really care. I’ll probably join in with them if their material is at all funny or interesting, or get some good heated arguments going if I take issue. If it’s during the set, I’m not sure how they can hear each other, let alone be heard by you, but if you’re at some low-volume show or something, and they’re ruining the experience, they need to shut the heck up. They’re no better than the a-holes that talk in movie theaters. If they are like the rednecks at the Ozzfest Pantera show that I saw about 13 years ago, however, and are spouting off a bunch of white-power gibberish and such, I’ll either go find another area of the place to be at or, if I’m feeling saucy, amass some troops to shut the idiot hillbillies down. Or I might even tell security to address it if they are being a nuisance to others.

Now, let me address YOUR actions. I’m not sure what you mean by “trying to tape the show” but IF you’re one of those dumbasses that holds up his digicam or iPhone throughout the whole show to make some crappy ass home-movie or YouTube clip I got news for you — you are one of my most hated show-goers.

I hate when some jerkwad is in front of me holding his dumb little phone or camera, blocking others’ visibility, and then looks all irritated when he gets bumped or pushed. You want to bootleg a show? — Go to the back or the balcony, because the front should be for FANS who want to enjoy a show the old school way . . . by rocking out, dancing, slamming, and WATCHING THE SHOW. You’re AT the show. You will NEVER get it sounding or looking as good as it will be at that moment when you are AT the show. Why you wouldn’t want to enjoy that moment to the fullest is a mystery to me. Wanna watch the band on your TV later? . . . Buy a DVD. I guarantee someone ELSE will be making a BETTER version of the movie you are making.

You are in MY land, not vice-versa. If you think you’re a professional photographer or something, great! Get a press-pass and take a spot in YOUR land on the side of the stage or in the press/ security moat between the stage and the crowd.

I’m gonna yell. I’m gonna push. I’m gonna slam around and have a great time. I’m gonna do exactly what I was doing in 1992 when the only guy with a cell phone was Zach Morris and he kept it in his backpack where it belonged.

Couldn’t agree more about the cell phone brigade…fuck all that noise…live in the moment…

Louis CK does a wonderful bit about this in his new HBO special called ‘Oh My God’…except he keeps it in the realm of parents recording their childrens dumb shit so they can put it on Facebook…

Grade A stuff…

I live in Louisiana. Plenty of those here.

I saw Ghost a few weeks ago…

Besides the first song when Papa comes out, There were barely any cameras/phones out the entire performance. I was quite pleased. I am so used to seeing screens all over the place, it was a nice change.

I also REALLY hate when a band does a ballad and people hold up their cell phones instead of a lighter. It’s just so friggin’ GAY! What is this, a rock concert, or a friggin’ Samsung commercial?

I’m so glad you pointed this out…I always thought the lighter thing back in the day was completely gay…but holding up a cell phone in place of a lighter is Ultra-Mega-Supra Heavy Gay…

Embarrassing…

Just a sign of the times. In 50 years people will be holding up fuckin hologram recorders or something shooting beams all over the fuckin place lol

For some reason when i saw Killing Joke, they had the tallest fucking audience i have ever seen. I’m average height, but i ended up standing behind some real behemoths and seeing nothing of the show at all, hahaha.

Some bands deserve to be talked shit about while on stage. I’ve been to shows where either the opening act or the sound guy have their heads up their ass thinking they sound amazing.

Yeah, Brah! I hate when I’m trying to jam some sweet live jams on my jam-cam and some bastards jam it up with their jibber jabber. I’m all like, “HEY!!! Jam it, you guys! Can’t you see I’m jammin’ here? I gots to get the jams for my fellow jammers and you’re just jammin’ the whole thing up! Just jam down, wouldja???”

That was sarcasm, by the way. In reality, I think you’re a stupid nutsack and everything you post is horrible.

I already mentioned in another thread my drunk babbling chick experience at the 2009 NIN Wiltern show.

I don’t like watching a show through someone else’s phone or camera either. If I decide to take a few photos, I will usually snap a few and put the camera or phone away.

I have absolutely no problem with this (and do it myself too sometimes). It’s the continuous filming that really drives me insane, especially when they think that OTHERS have some responsibility to them to stay out of their shot and not mess up their horrible crackly recording.

I actually regret filming as much as I did on my digital camera at Retrospectacle. I was mainly at the back of the room or on the balcony when doing so, but probably would have absorbed the atmosphere more and had more fun if I hadn’t shot so much video. I saw the camera crews, too, but had no idea what would happen to the footage. I had just bought the camera, and it was my first trip to Chicago, so I was having fun with my new toy. If I could do it again I would leave the camera in the hotel room.

I took my camera to a few more shows since then, but finally wised up about a year ago and stopped doing it. It’s true, there are too many crap YouTube videos of concert footage from cell phones and small cameras, and they either have crap video or crap sound. I now find myself shaking my head at people recording entire shows on their devices. I was that asshole, but I’m back to relaxing and soaking in the concert without my own distractions. It’s a bad practice and I’ve gotten it out of my system.

I went to see Depeche Mode a week ago, and forgot my phone in the car. I had to walk around the grass at this outdoor venue to find some friends since I couldn’t text, like I USED TO 20+ years ago. It felt good not even thinking about my phone, and fully enjoying the show (far from the best DM show, but decent; Crystal Castles…meh, they had their moments).

1002

I will take a pic or two here and there. I’m always quick about it, and then it’s back in the pocket.

I take my audio recorder to just about every show I go to. Doesn’t usually interfere with my enjoyment or anyone else’s.
