How is everyone doing...

I’ve been absent from the boards for several months now due to a self-imposed internet hiatus…

How is everyone doing?!?!

Last I had contact with you guys was seeing Afra at the kick-fucking-ass Killing Joke show…

Since then it looks like Paul put out a new record, which I think has it’s moments…

Where’s Jizzy? He seems to be missing in action…

Fuck, to tell you the truth guys I’m just bored to tears w/music these days… I mean after the latest Nick Cave album what is left to look forward too?

Someone please point me in the direction of something cool before I give up on music entirely!

Welcome back ma wee pal.

I’ve got a sore back.

I’ve got some good news in the music stakes though…

Check out my “Meursault Pissing On Bonfires/Kissing With Tongues” thread about the new and awesome Meursault album. Also check out Animal Collectives new album which is out on CD on Monday…the vinyl is already out. Both of these albums are superb.

Not sure where Jizzy is. It’s not the same without the wee radge.

Murder By Death has been my new favorite band for the past 8 months or so. If you like Nick Cave, you should definitely give them a try - their newest album, “Red of Tooth and Claw,” in particular.

Orale. Welcome back.

Life is good - INFINITELY more wonderful thanks to Mr. Barker, of course.

The absence of Jizz seriously worries me, though. [:(]

Jizz has been M.I.A. since October according to his log on status. But he was absent for another spell during '08 if I remember only to come back like he was never gone so he’ll probably do the same again soon. We’ll see.

As far as music in '09? Not much new music tickles me I guess apart from Jesu (which I presume/hope there will be a new release this year). Boards of Canada are due a new one too, but those Scots are keeping things extremely secret. I scour the internet every so often for some info, but there is nothing… [:(]

Other than that there is always the discovery of something already made which, for every year as long as I can remember, happens to happen.

pete, you missed the ohgr tour. awesome stuff.

Thanks for the suggestions folks.

As much as I love Ohgr’s theatrics I’m not terribly keen on much of his newer music, including the newer Puppy material with that Mark Walk guy. Get rid of walk and bring back Dave Ogilvie!

I hope you are right. I remember reading a post after his 2008 return where he said his liver enzymes were not correct.

I don’t remeber Jizz saying anything about his liver enzymes but I do know he had a bad case of the Diabetes (at Least that’s what he posted severla times!) I hope he comes back too! Damn, Now, I totally believe in Parallel universes cause I never would’ve written that back in the old Universe!
I’m missing special ed too! this board just limps along with out those guys! Nice to have you back Pete!

He’s a Type 1 diabetic.

Having a high level of glucose for too long and/or drinking alcoholic beverages can stop his liver (a vital organ) from functioning properly - complication of being diabetic.

His last post before he disappeared is about his fasting blood levels and liver: http://www.prongs.org/minfiles/forum/gforum.cgi?post=30626;#30626

maybe he’s dead… that would suck!

Agreed, it would suck. Let’s hope he’s well and the reason he hasn’t posted is for dramatic effect or his computer died. 2.5 months is a very long time to be sick from glucose/enzyme levels and with no access to a computer.

In the early 1970’s, the estimated life expectancy of Type 1’s was about 30 to 40 years. However, increased knowledge, better medical care, and the invention of the insulin pump have increased their life expectancy to almost equal that of a non-diabetic.

The latest Nick Cave was something to look forward to??

You are obviously not trying hard enough.

There is plenty of good music out these days.

Someone please point me in the direction of something cool before I give up on music entirely!

The new Animal Collective ‘Merriweather Post Pavillion’ should be out by now. Check that one out.

The last few albums I bought were…

[b]Acid Mothers Temple - Does The Cosmic Shepherd Dream Of Electric Tapir?

Prurient - The Black Post Society

Daniel Menche - Beast Resonator

New Risen Throne - Whispers Of The Approaching Wastefulness

You could do worse than to check those out.

It’s just like in the mid to late '80s. When the mainstream music of the time is utter crap, you need to go waaay underground to find something that is worthy.

Which is a lot more fun than being spoonfed.

Why yes, I thought it was a gem, and the live show was stellar!

Most certainly. I think part of the problem for me is that with the ability of any jackass to post music on sites such as myspace (not that that’s necissarily a bad thing) and literally thousands of independant record labels flooding the internet, the market is quite saturated and there is just so much to sift through. A lot of the music I find isn’t necissarily bad, it’s just that it doesn’t quite float my boat.

I did however check out some of your suggestions…

Acid Mother’s Temple - solid pyschedelia… I dig it. I like how they tend to start out with a simple rythym pattern and then merge into controlled chaos. I bet these guys would be great to see live. I’ll have to check out more.

Prurient and Menche - Very Throbbing Gristle-esque… would have loved this in my late teens-mid twenties. Call me a simpleton but I think I’m after music with a little more pop-sensibility these days, or with more distinct and structured rythym.

New Risen Throne - Liked it. Good ambient dark music. Reminds me of certain COIL material and would be great music for a horror movie soundtrack.

Animal Collective - I’ll be checking these guys out tomorrow on behalf of Maggot. Thanks again Toots!

Saw them live a few years ago (with Wolf Eyes to boot) and they’re great.

Word.

[:(]

Where’d he say he was from, again? Somewhere in Ohio or something? I might go snooping through that area’s local newspapers and check the obits.

Gotta keep tabs on my homies.

Ohio is all that I’ve seen him post.

I’m pretty sure he’s posted enough personal info that we could determine the city and place where he works if anyone was determined to search for it in his posts.

Here is a start:

  • I remember him having a conversation with carmangary about bringing a date to a specific fancy restaurant with a military-like name at an airport. I’m thinking it was the 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant in Columbus, Ohio.

  • I also remember him mentioning working in a chain book store and either for the city/county and teaching something. I’m thinking it was a Borders Books because I also seem to remember that he was arguing with spambot about C.C. having a book signing in his store versus her store.

So which one of us is gonna call and ask to speak to a store manager, looking for their mid-30’s Type 1 diabetic employee who either passed away or is out on medical leave because we don’t know his name?

Hi!
you got a dude that works there that goes by the name of Jizzwad?
Yeah?
Well he’s Delinquent on the Prongs.org board and a bunch of us stalker types pieced together some random bits of information that-
Oh really?
the cops huh?
WELL FUCK YOU BUDDY SEE IF I EVER SHOP AT A BORDERS AGAIN! AND LET ME TELL YOU ANOTHER THING-Hello? Hello?

Spot on, smrf.
