what is that and where did you saw that?

i think you’re referring to a cdr of rough cuts from houses that got circulated in some circles months before the album came out. i have the mp3s somewhere but really i’m not famiiar enough to tell u exactly what the differences are between all these songs and the versions released on houses. although i think that even the regular version of worm is about 1 minute shorter than the houses version (cant remember the radio edit), and world is about a minute longer with an extended beginning/end. afra/bisquit, let me know if i’m wrong about this.

No, I’m not familiar with this at all. The mp3 version you’re thinking of were pretty much identical to the album. Revco, where’d you dig this up?

tracked down most of these mp3s. the date on them on my old computer are from Feb '04. they are tagged as “houses cuts” for the cd name. quality is much shittier than the cd versions, even though they are all on average 275 kbps vbr @ 44khz. but from the tags and track #s they have to be from what revco is referring to. i know for sure they were ripped from a cdr a while before the release.

info i have:

tracks:
01 - no-w - 3:27
02 - waiting - 5:05
03 - world - 6:33
05 - worm - 8:16
06 - no-w alternative - 3:15

cant seem to find tracks 4, or 7-9 yet.

Ah yes, the first batch. On second investigation, I do have at least the first 3 tracks. pretty cruddy quality, and almost identical to the cd versions. The others I’ll have to hunt for.

Revco, where’d you dig this up?

Afra is the one.

…oops…

It was the CD that Al gave me when I went to El Paso. Identifical to the CD version except it wasn’t mastered.

Sorry Backwards is by far the best thing Ministry ever did, back in the glory days.

Sorry Backwards? Is that a “Say You’re Sorry” mix or something?

HAHA ROFFLZ =)))))

i think it’s “paul is not with us” bit

So I take it “Sorry” = “Walrus”?

Is “Zero” an unreleased track, or was it renamed to match the all-W’s scheme?

And is there any chance that we’ll ever get to hear “Wasted?” (maybe as a song-of-the-week?) or is Al saving it for a soundtrack or game or something?

“Zero” = “WKYJ”

What is “Wasted”?

Before Houses came out, Afra had a preview copy and posted a one-song review of a track called “Wasted” which was later dropped from the final album.

(edit: as clarified by Afra below, he posted a detailed description of the song on the old message board, not the song itself. I was going by memory, since the old post isn’t here any more)

wasted…posted…when?, I don’t recall seeing this tune up for grabs.

maybe it was some wip title or maybe it was bloodlines track… maybe not.

Wasted was a track which he was doing the lyrics for when I went down there a few months before the album came out. The lyrics were about suicide bombers. He then changed the lyrics and trackname but the “changed” song does appear on the final Houses. I never had the “Wasted” song - just heard it in the studio and I can’t recall what song it was changed to. I will try to find out.

Hmm, did it become Warp City? I dont see it represented on House Cuts.

I bet ‘Wasted’ was changed to ‘Worthless’. That’s the only song on ‘Houses’ that sounded like something about suicide bombers.

Kill yourself
that’s what you wanted
pity yourself
you’re a righteous man
destroy yourself.

That would make sense. I could see substituting “you’re wasted” for “you’re worthless” in the chorus and it wouldn’t change the meaning of the song much.
