They Live - so-so
Nothing can be mediocre when Rowdy Roddy Piper is involved, even if it is a bastion of banality.
There’s also ‘Big Trouble in Little China’, ‘Christine’ and… ugh, very regrettably, ‘Escape From L.A.’

Does Warriors count? Warriorss… come out and plaaayy.
Quality film. The scene with the baseball dudes chasing the warriors was scary alright.
The Warriors is awesome. And the PS2 game of it is pretty kick ass too. Violent as hell I tells ya.
Might be forgetting some.
Isn’t “They Live” a john Carpenter film? Man, I love that flick!! sci fi horror at it’s finest. bad dialogue, bad acting, AWESOME STORY!
Funny story, The cripple fight scene from South Park, with Timmy and Jimmy lifted, pretty much, The whole fight scene between Rowdy roddy piper and his friend in “They Live.” Makes Cripple fight even funnier IMO.

I’ve been trying for YEARS to find the sountrack for the shining… it’s way out of print
Go to www.wendycarlos.com and order the “lost scores” to The Shining by the original composer. It’s a hell of a score, great performer and it’s interesting to hear ‘how it coulda been’…
Otherwise, yeah, torrent it. The original release was pulled quick due to clearances.
They Live - so-so
Prince of Darkness - don’t remember anything about it - think Alice Cooper is in it
That’s where I thought he had his swan songs…seriously, re-rent Prince Of Darkness. Forget the silly shit in it, there’s a lot of underlying themes and interesting ideas that are throughout…I remember the last half hour in particular being great

I agree. I forgot to list those, but my brother has both of them on dvd and I just watched Prince of Darkness a month or two ago. It’s quality.
Yeah - might have to give that one a second chance. Donald Pleasance is in the cast too…I think as a priest.
I remember seeing They Live in theaters when it opened. Seemed ok at the time. Meg Foster is in it…I forget the name of the brutha who has the cripplefight with Piper.
Piper was also in Hell Comes to Frog Town ( 1987 )…as the guy who had to impregnate the last few women on earth. As an incentive to complete his mission - he had some sorta bomb wired to his dingle. Messed up.
Actually had 2 sequels.
Donald Pleasance is hands down the most disturbing( in various incarnations) actor in horror films.
except of course, ruth gordon. her mouth dribbling away (rosemary’s baby), looking like she NEEDS some comfort (steak sandwich?)
I have a big soft spot for Vincent Price and Poe, so I’m voting for Fall of the House of Usher.

Good pick. Used to have all the Corman/Price Poe films on vhs. I need to replace these now.
